Thanks in advance if you can answer my question(s).
I am utterly fed up of "Non stick" teflon pans getting progressively more sticky as time goes on, so I thought I'd try a cast iron skillet instead. This is mainly for frying things - eggs, onions, whatever. I prefer not to use too much oil in my cooking.
A cast iron casserole pan has come up on my local facebook page and I'm wondering if it would do the job of a skillet. What do you think? The cast iron skillets I was researching were a "raw" iron surface that needs seasoning and cast iron care, whereas this casserole dish is fully enamelled inside and out, apart from on the bottom. Now I don't actually need any oven casserole dishes, I have plenty
but speaking to the seller she thinks this would be fine for frying stuff in. I'm totally inexperienced with cast iron cookware, so I thought I'd ask you lovely people if you thought this would be a useful and suitable piece of kit for what I want? (basically to replace a non-stick frying pan, the fact that I can fry in it then put a casserole in the oven is just a useful extra to me). Or should I just buy a darn skillet new?
Also, is £15 for a 2 litre unbranded cast iron pot (with lid) was a reasonable price to pay 2nd hand?
