Young gardener

Slightly random question, DD (aged 10) is very into gardening at the moment - we have given her a patch in the garden and she spends a lot of time out there. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything to encourage her in this - like if she was into birds I'd join her up to the RSPB - just not sure what's out there for young gardeners (as it's not something I've ever come across before!).

I'd start with the RHS

I haven't found much for my 10 year old who also like the garden, but mainly finding worms and arranging painted stones etc in her garden.

get her some books on gardening? Give her the chance to buy some seeds / plants etc.

Practical experience and family viewing of Gardeners' World? Maybe let her have more of the garden Grin.

The allotments near us have a section which is like a community area so once a month on a Saturday morning anyone can go down and help out with anything that might need doing
I don't know if there's anything like that near you
Ours isn't heavily promoted or anything so I only found out by chance

Thanks all. My parents are pretty into it as well, so they're encouraging her but we don't see them all that often. That's a great idea re. the allotment actually; we have a community garden - I'll see if I can get her down there.

If her school doesn't have a gardening club, you could suggest it. DS2's school has one for Y6s, and they rehome hedgehogs as well, with local volunteers (at least in pre-covid times).
