Legoland, Chessington or Gullivers?

We're looking to take our DD (4) to either Legoland, Chessington or Gullivers in a couple of weeks. We'll likely stay the night too. What is the best one to go to for her age group?

Any recommendations for other places too would be great!

Legoland or Gullivers.
Or Paultons Park is good for a 4 year old.

CMSdividend · 16/05/2021 17:23

Another vote for paultons. It's not just Peppa pig and rides are geared up for under 12s. Love it there. Also Chessington really good for around your DDs age.
I find gullivers a bit worn, especially the Milton Keynes one. We only spend a morning there and we're done. Reminds me of pleasurewood hills a bit.

Paultons/Peppa Pig World is perfect for a 4 year old.

Chessington but v busy
Not Lego land
Peppa pig world short waits for rides x

Check Gullivers face mask requirements - when I looked they wanted masks on everyone over around 3, which I’m not prepared to do with my young children so we went elsewhere.

Cluckycluck · 16/05/2021 17:38

I did consider Paultons but then was drawn more to Chessington etc as they onsite accommodation.

@CMSdividend It would be the MK Gullivers we would be going, DD hasn't been anywhere like it before so could it be a day for a child that hasn't experienced it before?

Legoland is heaving like Chessington which can be hard for a 4 year old.

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 16/05/2021 17:43

I haven’t been to Gullivers but out of the other two, we prefer Chessington - it feels a bit more chilled than Lego land , there’s lots of places to play rather than having to queue for the big rides, and there’s animals 😄
I just found the queues at Legoland too much , and tbh we weren’t that into Lego 😂

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 16/05/2021 17:43

Can't comment on Gullivers but Legoland & Chessington are both great. Can be quite busy but shouldn't be too bad midweek term-time.
Agree with others though Paultons is brilliant and now just Peppa pig (only do the bloody helicopter just as it opens or very late in the pm) - the Premier inn 5 mins away is perfect.

wotchhha · 16/05/2021 17:44

Paultons Park

wotchhha · 16/05/2021 17:45

There's a Premier Inn very close

CharlotteFlax · 16/05/2021 17:45

Not been to Gullivers MK but our children all had excellent times at the Warrington one. It's like a gateway theme park - you can work up to the likes of Chessington and Legoland (which I assume are also more expensive). Warrington Gullivers has a hotel with really good family rooms which topped off our day really nicely. Definitely didn't run out of rides to to go on all day.

Paultons park would be best.

And legoland is amazing but queues are hideous. If you can do inset day or similar do legoland as there is so much for them!!

Cluckycluck · 16/05/2021 17:51

It will be in the week, probably stay a Thursday night and then do the park on the Friday. It will be early July before schools break up so I'm hoping that coupled with a weekday places won't be too heaving. DH doesn't deal with queues and crowds well, I'm more concerned about him for waiting around/business than I am for DD.

I would agree Paultons Park for that age, much nicer than Legoland which is always heaving and looks very dated imo.

Whattheflecker · 16/05/2021 18:04

Gulliver's is a lot cheaper and a lot smaller than the others so it would be fine for a 4 year old. It is a bit grubby though(or it was pre-Covid). When mine was little she loved the soft play place about half way through.

If she's not yet at school I'd go Legoland on a school day. The queues are awful in peak times but there's loads to do that are not rides. The pirate show is fab.

Charley50 · 16/05/2021 18:08

I've only been to Gulliver's Land, but I think it's quite enough for a 4 year-old. It's low-key but fun.

supercalifragilistic123 · 16/05/2021 18:09

Chessington is brilliant for that age. There is so much they can go on, and the gruffalo ride in particular is fantastic.
Did you know they do toddler sessions during term time, so it's £25 for parent and preschooler.

We have done Legoland too but found it disappointing and very expensive.

Ilovechoc12 · 16/05/2021 18:09

Private schools finish here fri 2nd July .... we are 30 mins from chessington and lego land so could be busier than you think !

ItsSnowJokes · 16/05/2021 18:12

Paultons and stay at the Premier Inn down the road or plenty of hotels in Southampton or Romsey. We are season ticket holders and go at least once a fortnight and our 4 year old absolutely loves it.

Equimum · 16/05/2021 18:14

We did Chessington on a school day the summer before our son started school. It’s wasn’t too busy and he lived the Gruffalo ride as well as kids if others. If you can go on a quieter day, it would defiantly work for that age.

Quartz2208 · 16/05/2021 18:22

I have Merlin passes and have been to Paultons Park a lot and for that age Paultons Park definitely. Everything in the entire park is suitable both the old style park and peppa pig world.

I know it doesnt have a hotel but you can stay either near the coast (Holiday Inn Fareham) or the New Forest add another night and explire the area

ChocOrange1 · 16/05/2021 18:26

Paultons Park is really great for kids that age - we live right near there and there is loads and if you go on a week day its really quiet. There isn't onsite accommodation but there is a Premier Inn about 1/4 of a mile away, or plenty of b and bs and campsites in the New Forest nearby. Also plenty of other things to do in the area to make a break out of it.

The Sun currently have token for 2 free tickets to Chessington, which is really worth it if you're planning to go there. You sometimes get discounts on the hotels with that too.

PomegranateQueen · 16/05/2021 18:31

Definately Paultons. If your husband hates queuing then Legoland definately isn't for him.

I would usually say Gullivers but I have been to the MK one during the pandemic and they are making children over 3 wear masks on rides, very strictly enforced too. It was a nightmare trying to keep a mask on my 3 year old.
