Yes really!! Was about to order copper tape but YouTube tells me it doesn't work.

Now it's rained for days the fuckers are everywhere...

Is it on legs? Stand each leg in a tray of slug killer.

Whilst that would work it might poison the rabbit and the dog....

You could try Epsom salts. You can scatter the crystals around much as you would slug pellets, but they aren't toxic. The added benefit is that they also provide magnesium to plants which will help them grow. Diatomaceous earth might be worth a shot too. Apparently it has very sharp edges, and basically pops open things like slugs and other small squashy type pests. That would need to be outside the hutch though, as the dust can damage lungs if there's a lot of it.

Just to add that the copper tape definitely doesn’t work. I actually watched slugs arch up and reach and climb over the copper tape without touching it but still got to their destination!

I have Epsom salts in the house and they are pence anyway. Thank you!!

There is a copper impregnated fabric called Slug and Snail Shocka. I've never tried the metal tape, but I used to stand my strawberry troughs on pieces of this cloth and I never found any molluscs in amongst the berries.

You could look into using nematoads they've reduced our snails significantly.

Gravel/sharp sand like a moat.

Bamaluz · 16/05/2021 17:36

Yes, sand should do it.

A half empty can of beer might work. You leave it nearby and they all slide their way into the can. Apparently they're attracted to the smell. Bit grim when you have to get rid of the can though. But at least they'll have a fun time before they meet their demise

Slugs & snails don’t like garlic.
Boil a garlic bulb in a litre of water, leave to cool & blitz with a hand blender, strain & put in spray bottle. Use where needed.
