I despise my neighbour’s son

He is just horrible. He’s about 19 or so. They’ve gone away for a week at a time every summer we’ve lived here (5 years) and left him at home. He’s had parties for the entire week in the garden with his horrible friends. His taste in music is shocking. Just noise, dance stuff, no lyrics. Not even good dance music, the shite stuff.

I have a one year old and my DP was up with her a few months ago at 5 am and looked out the window. He was doing cocaine on the bonnet of his car with one of his gross friends. This was during lockdown as well so it’s not like he had anywhere to go after taking the coke other than his bedroom in mammy and daddy’s house. He’s currently out the back garden with loads of his friends playing his awful music.

He’s just a horrible little toe rag and I hate him. Sorry for the rant, had to get that off my chest. If any one has any ideas how I can get my own back on this creep I’d love to hear them.

I can't hear it. My kids complained when I played it.

I have heard that some shopping complexes in America play sound like that outside to discourage "youth" from hanging around.

I have called the police on him before yes. I’m not in the UK and the police here don’t really do much. They’ll call over and tell him to keep it down but that’s about it.

A police call spooks him for a few months and then the music and noise gradually gets louder as the fear wears off, you know yourself.

Not quite the same but we had some annoying workmen outside yesterday. I could just about tolerate the blaring music out the back but there was a couple at the front screeching at each other for hours, strutting back and forth from next door the where their van was parked and shouting to each other .....then the baby noises and repetitive phrase between them for hours.

Apparently they thought me blasting out Pete Tong to drown them out was 'like a rave'

I had a neighbour like this. We all share a garden. She went away every 1-2 months and he always had a party that often spilled out into the shared garden. He also had some girls driving a moped drunk in just mini skirts and crop tops in and out of others drives and parked cars. She wouldn't believe he had parties. We used 101 to report after 11.

One night he had a mega party and there were vodka bottles etc all over the shared garden. So me and my other neighbour took photos of the large, recordings of the noise and photos of the resulting mess as they tried to clean it up at 6.30am before mum came home. He also threatened to smash my face in when I asked him to make sure there was no broken glass around as our children were 5 at the time.

His mum couldn't deny it any longer when the police turned up because of the threat and me and my neighbour printed the photos in A4, laminated them and tied them to the garden fence Grin we also played the recording of the noise through speakers in the garden.

They were actually evicted in the end

I feel your pain OP - we have an arrogant teen next door who loves to play his music so loud it is unbearable. And we have heard him doing it while the parents are in the house, seemingly unbothered! It beggars belief.

I've just read a book where the main character has a noisy neighbour.

She puts on the soundtrack from Annie on repeat then goes out for evening Grin

Try something like this just to give you a sense of revenge annoyance on your neighbours part!

I would tell him and his parents straight that this stops now. Then if it doesn't and for good report him for noise nuisance and drugs and play Barney or whatever at full blast really early in the morning and go out.

He clearly thinks he is cool and important. People like him really wind me up.
