Thankyou so much for the positive comment! I think I will be doing this course and see where it may leave me. But I would like to work hard and do my best! I have got my level 2 health and social care and level 3 early years and 4 years of experience working in a nursery and with children that have special educational needs. Also got a safeguarding designated lead certificate so I think I will be okay.
@CliffsofMohair I wondered if it has changed. Does it not involve classroom experience anymore?
You don’t need to be qualified as a teacher any more but you need a minimum of 2 years working with children in some form, post graduation. Then you do a 3/4 year doctorate which is very competitive. The Masters is no longer enough.

Who employs child psychotherapists?

That would be your starting point and work back from there.

Have you read this?

I think the chances of this course getting you there are very slim to non.

There are now iapt children's mental health. But you need a degree (it may be a bps accredited degree) to be eligible

Hi OP I graduated with this degree 5 years ago now. I worked in a nursery before I started and while I was studying. I had wanted to become an early years teacher but decided it wasn’t for me.
I’m now studying for a MSc Psychology and I work for a mental health charity.

As others have said If you want to pursue being a child psychotherapist I’d go for a psychology or psychology with counselling degree instead.

And know you’ll have to study more and get relevant experience after you’ve graduated.

Good luck OP Smile
