Beach holiday in UK

For various reasons we're only just attempting to book a week away in the summer and obviously availability is now limited!
Has to be somewhere with a beach, ideally with surfing and/or paddle boarding. More of a town than a village with a few decent restaurants and shops.
If I loved St Ives, liked Falmouth but wasn't keen on Broadstairs, would Tenby (Wales)
be a good option? Or any other suggestions please?

Looked at Newquay but struggling to find much/anything available

North Norfolk is good for paddle boarding.

Another one for North Norfolk for paddle boarding. Sadly our first year of not going in years though. Not sure if much availability left and some places are ££££.

Tenby is lively, as is North Norfolk. I imagine most places will be booked up by now, especially if you want to go in the school holidays.

Lovely, not lively.

Depends how far you want to travel but Tynemouth is good.

Woolacombe

You’ll struggle to find somewhere with both paddleboarding and surfing. Brixham is great for paddleboarding - flat unless there’s Easterlies, guaranteed seal spotting, very high chance of seeing dolphins. Also loads of great restaurants and lovely walks.

Norfolk's perfect for both - surf in the sea, paddle on the Broads.

What kind of accommodation are you after and what's the budget?

Yes, Tenby is lovely.

Western isles Scotland for sure. Or Hebrides. White sand, peace and quiet, idyllic scenery. And we do get nice weather in summer believe it or not!

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned, but North Norfolk is very good for paddle boarding.

Porthmadog North Wales. Black Rock Sands has everything you need.

Fistral Beach in Newquay is great for surfing. The Headland Hotel (overlooking the beach) has gorgeous self-catering cottages and if you stay there you can use the hotel’s facilities including its pool and restaurants. Newquay town itself has probably seen better days TBH, but there are plenty of options for eating out etc. and lots of other lovely beaches, all within walking distance.

Holkham is good, but can't remember where that is.

I can't agree that Newquay town has " seen better days ". It went through a bad patch around 20 years ago but since then a lot of money has been spent and it is steadily moving more upmarket.
Obviously it's known for its surfing but yesterday was calm and there were paddleboarders in Newquay Bay.

There are still vacancies in June and July.

Cardigan or St Dogmaels. Loads of beaches and you can paddle board on the Teifi. Much quieter than Tenby too.

Holkham is good, but can't remember where that is.

It is just a few miles from Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk.

Holkham beach is huuuge.

North Devon around Ilfracombe, where the Bristol Channel meets the Atlantic. Exmoor side for amazing paddleboarding coves and Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton for some of the best surf in the country!

If it is during school holidays, I would suggest forgetting Devon and Cornwall given the traffic, the cost, and sadly probably people on holiday there who you probably would not wish to socialise with.

South west Wales does seem a good option, also further north along the coast if accommodation is available.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions everyone. Regarding north Norfolk, where would you recommend (Holkham, Wells, Cromer?) Is Cromer the largest out of these? We're in the south east so although Hebrides sounds lovely it's a bit far!
