Strange emotional attachment?!

A perfect example of this is my neighbour posting in our community group chat ‘Does anyone want these books? For some reading materials’.

I can’t take them, I love reading but I’m not a hoarder and I’ve actually read some of them/don’t fancy the other ones. My immediate mental response to my reaction in my head is ‘You don’t want them. They’re going in the bin then. That’s it, they’re being fucked off and thrown away’.

I feel very sad for said books and feel guilty for the books?! ConfusedBlush

Similar things happen to me quite regularly. I recently went to a boot sale and felt bad for some of the porcelain cups and vases, with visions of them being smashed up if I didn’t buy them.

What on earth is wrong with me? I’m sane otherwise, promise!

I blame children's TV/books animating inanimate objects.

Did you watch Toy Story as a child? Or Beauty and the Beast? Or the Brave Little Toaster? Or the Bear that Nobody Wanted?

It's a wonder any of us can get rid of anything!

I had to go back and fish a teddy out of a puddle the other day (took it home bathed it and repaired it) because I was wracked with guilt about leaving it 'drowning' in a puddle.

Oh I loved Brave Little Toaster! Little blanket Blush my favourite, what a cutie. And the scene where the objects are being used for parts - so sad.

I have never really seen Beauty and The Beast all the way through so not sure it's that.

Well done you for rescuing the teddy. I applaud you Flowers
