Nice or edible ready meals, if there's such a thing?

Kitchen re fit due any day. I've frozen a few portions of chilli, curry, bolognese and meatballs. But tbh between now and Monday I have no time to batch cook anymore.

Kids can eat at parents houses as they'll eat earlier to get them home for bath and bed. So need ready type meals for me DH and teen

Any suggestions of what's nice or edible and from what shop.

We have aldi, tesco, asda and Iceland nearby. We have a lidl but it's always absolutely manic and crap lay out so I try to avoid if I can

Not had great experiences with Iceland (tried the Gio meatballs and the pp's makhani and prefer CB's/takeaway) except of course Gregg's cheese bakes.

@tywysoges thank you. I'd never heard of Cook but turns out there's one just 7 mins for DD school so will pop in. I've been doing Gousto for months and whilst it's nice, there are days I can't be doing with measuring, chopping and washing up!

No room for a slow cooker? That’s what we did when we were having work done in the kitchen

Lots of meals you could make and add microwave rice too, as well as complete meals in the slow cooker

Things like couscous and bulghur wheat are good alternatives to potatoes and pasta for lots of things - cooked by steeping in boiling water in a bowl - add stock, some herbs, etc for added flavour. Frozen mash is useful if you'll have a freezer.

I like the Wasabi range - it's available from Sainsbury's.

This is us at the moment! We’ve had takeaways a couple of times but have found some alternatives. As PP have suggested, a slow cooker has been good for stews and chilli (especially in this awful weather!).

There is also a farm shop on my commute that does really good home cooked meals potted into ready meal size portions.

Take always. Bread cheese meat type cold spreads.

Basically what you’d eat on holiday

I’d swap your microwave for a combi microwave / oven thingy.

Otherwise I would stick to things like beans and jackets.

The M&S tinned curries year in the microwave and are not bad at all.
