Shitting hell, I just went to out something in my household waste bin and glanced down.
I'm not a huge fan of spiders, and thought there was a whole mass of them on a bin bag in there..... (shivers at the thought)

Then I realised I'd pinched the shoots off an acer plant and thrown the bits in there. Grin

I used to live alone in the middle of nowhere in a farm cottage. One evening the farmer popped round to warn me that some nutter had slashed one of his horses the previous night in the field directly behind my house. Really injured the poor creature for no reason whatsoever. Obviously I felt very uncomfortable and made sure I locked up carefully. In the night, something woke me, which is quite unusual for me. I remember lying there, absolutely convinced I could hear the back door handle slowly opening. I lay there literally paralyzed with fear. I convinced myself I could hear this apparent intruder moving around downstairs looking for the stairs to come up and kill me. I'm usually so calm and rational but I will never forget how terrified I was. Like, frozen stiff with fear.
It was not a pleasant night.

Years ago I was staying at my parent’s farmhouse- mum ( this is relevant) was working night shift. I was sat with my salad in the sitting room which had beautiful black beams along the ceiling. I put my plate down on the coffee table- and heard a ‘plink’ noise-no idea where it came from! Picked up my dinner plate only to find a Massive- so massive it made a noise when it dropped off the beam down onto my plate- black hairy spider
Oh my god! I threw the plate across the room- and jumped up on my seat 😂 my 6ft 1in dad also jumped up on the sofa and we were both terrified- my dad eventually got a big broom and some fly spray and we were swatting at it and spraying it- honest looking back at it I cringe and laugh a-we had to wait for mum to get home to deal with it.I got my phobia from my dad!

I jump out of skin in regularly in summer when I see a random tomato stalk out of the corner of my eye. I think it's a spider, every time!Blush

I work in a building with lots of individual units for for different companies. The ladies toilet is in the corner of the building. Every year the company next to the ladies toilet, puts a round christmas wreath in the small window in their door.
Obviously I have to pass that door each time I go to the loo, and probably 9/10 times I get freaked out that there is a face at the window. My colleague does the same. And it happens every year!😂😂

I put a terracotta strawberry pot on a ledge outside my kitchen window and then went about my business.

I proceeded to shit myself when I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water that night, and caught a glimpse of someone staring into my window out of the corner of my eye.

Somebody with a terracotta face and strawberry leaf hair Grin

I did worry that I was losing my mind to have made that leap from the visual to the imagined, but my mum and best friend have both done the same since (my mother screamed Grin), so I reckon it’s legit.

I’ve left it there and still freak myself out with it probably once a week.

@StormcloakNord

Many years ago I was quite young & excited for Christmas. I slept downstairs on the sofa after watching TV for a bit.

I had some strange, almost lucid dream, that the radio was on in the kitchen (it was pitch black in the dead of night so no radio on!) and someone turned it up... then I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen into the living room.

I must have actually woken up because all I saw was a man cloaked in chains about to kill me (it was actually just the Christmas tree) so I screamed bloody murder. Neighbours called the police and everything. Blush

Christmas tree as man cloaked in chains. Grin There are some great ones on this thread but I think this is my favourite.

When I was younger my sister would tell me stories to scare me . One of them being about a girl stuck In the mirror and if you turn your back you will be pulled in. It’s always stuck in my mind . I was in a different country where every day they have electric for a a few hours a day. I went to the loo and the electric went out I had a torch so switched it on . Went to wash my hands and see thei hand coming towards me . Yes it was the stupid mirror I ran so fast .🤣
