Poor little lad. We live in Blackpool and the whole town is in shock. Rest easy Jordan ⚽️ 💙

Heartbreaking. So so awful for his friends and family and devastating for his team mates and coaches. My heart also goes out the first responders and paramedics.

Absolutely. So sad.
@Fixitup2 I read some good tips in this linked article from BBC News: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36608210
This story is just unimaginable - I have a 9 year old DS who was playing football with his team last night. To think that this could even happen.....I can't even go there. That poor little boy and his poor family Sad

Another local here and yes the thunder came from nowhere.

Mintsmints · 13/05/2021 01:02

I have actually looked up lightning safety and I have learned some things and it says if your hair stands on end during a storm or you hear a buzzing it means you are about to be struck so get to safety. A couple of kids a while ago took picture of their hair doing this as they thought it was funny and and then got struck. You can google and it’s shows the picture

Also you can be struck if you hear thunder even if the sky is blue above you. The bolt can come out from the side of the cloud and travel across and down. That’s were the phrase bolt from blue comes from.

I can even imagine what those parents are going through, poor boy

I work about a mile from where it happened. My colleague who works a couple of miles away had just messaged about the thunder and lightning. There was nothing where we were then 5 minutes later it came out of the blue . So sad . R.I.P Jordan x

This is a wonderful thing Jordan's family have done. They gave permission for organ donation and at the worst time in their lives, they've changed three other children's lives. What a memorial to their lovely son.

I can’t stop thinking about this little lad. His family have written such lovely tributes to him and hearing about his good deeds with raising money for mental health charities and secretly putting sweets on police cars to thank them is heartbreaking. Then hearing that he has potentially saved the lives of 3 other children through organ donation. What an amazing kid!

We live 20 minutes away and there wasn’t even a sign of a thunderstorm here, I think it came from nowhere.

If ever anyone needed proof that there’s no god, this is it or why would he let a beautiful 9 year old get struck by lightning?

pickledpumpkins · 14/05/2021 13:09

I'm so sorry for the family and friends, how terribly tragic x This could have been any young family.

Having worked in the organ donation space and met deeply grateful recipients it's an intensely personal but hugely impactful gift from one family to another. I hate to think I'll ever be in that situation to have to make that decision about loved ones but I would gladly donate my organs to others if I no longer need them.

Very sad. I do think there is a lack of knowledge nowadays about how dangerous natural phenomena can be. It sounds like the kids were playing on a flat field and nobody realised it was dangerous.
