Is this menopause brain fog? How old were you when it started and what was it like? Help!

How have other experienced brain fog?

I'm trying to work out what's wrong with me and whether it's (peri)menopause or something else.

I'm tired and stressed but my brain isn't functioning properly. I can't organise my thoughts and it means I am struggling to do my work. Is this brain fog?

I'm 45. I've had some experience of this in the past year but it feels like this time it has been going on for days and my head is full of cotton wool.

Any advice?

Could also be low Vitamin D, so get your levels checked out.

I’m not perimenopausal but get brain fog
from dehydration, low b12, low vitamin d and gluten! I also get it during extreme stress
For which yogic breathing can help

Same here OP. Look up other peri symptoms and see if you have them. What coping strategies have you tried? I ran through all methods, but the GP has just identified it as possible peri from a random prescription renewal.

I also feel panicky and emotional but that could be due to the fact I'm struggling to think clearly and I'm getting frustrated.

I could believe it's a vit d deficiency given I rarely get out the house.

I will speak to my GP but I would love to take a tablet that is going to have an immediate effect!

Yes I've experienced this. It's hard to tell whether it's menopause, ageing or the stresses of a busy life with work and teens who drain the life out of me.

Are you getting enough sleep?

I take Vit D but what I find really helps a lot is mentally switching off. A long walk on my own or sitting in the garden staring at the trees and the birds. I definitely feel clearer headed afterwards.

I have Gilbert syndrome and brain fog is one of my symptoms. Sometimes I 'crash' and just have to give in to it and go to bed.
