I need some advice about how to deal with a situation and what is going to happen when I report it.

A neighbour has damaged my property with hazardous material. I need to report it as I need help to sort it out but I'm worried about the cost. Will I get me money back and can the person who did it be prosecuted.

Not specialist contractor. Emails state they were not responsible and it is his fault. We couldn't believe it when we got these emails!

Can you dump it back on his land?

Contact your local council who might be able to help?

No we're not moving back. There's it's too much, we'd need diggers and then we're doing exactly what he did. Its not solving the problem and implicating us in the criminal offence.

I think we need to just take the leap and contact EA. I am hoping there are no more hidden horrors waiting for us when we do this 😩

"I think we need to just take the leap and contact EA."

That's not a "leap". It's just simply what you need to do. MN really isn't the first port of call for this Confused

"No we're not moving back. There's it's too much, we'd need diggers and then we're doing exactly what he did. Its not solving the problem and implicating us in the criminal offence."

And returning his waste isn't doing exactly what he did is it?

I posted in the hope that someone EA related would be able to advise us but that's not really happened. Thank you for everyone's input but I won't be coming back to this now.

@Evenstar

I know someone who works for the EA, he thinks your best course of action may be to contact the local council. If the neighbour knew that there was Japanese Knotweed in the soil they dumped then they have committed an offence. The RHS website has some good information about the plant and how to deal with it.
Here! Here is a response from someone who works for the EA. @Youaremypenguin is this not good enough? Confused

You are catastrophising

Ring your local authority today. They will advise you, and probably put you in touch with the relevant person at the environment agency.

Nothing is going to happen to you. You haven't caused this and you are seeking advice about how to fix it.
