Can someone recommend me an alternative to Bloom and Wild?

My sister and her boyfriend have just got engaged. Unfortunately they're on the Scottish Borders and im down in Bournemouth so seeing them tricky at the moment. Id like to send some flowers as a stop gap until I can get up there. I used to like Bloom and Wild but I think they've really gone downhill lately. All the flowers arrive half dead and dont really perk up that much. Is there an alternative that anyone knows about? Thanks 🙂

Why can't you just ring a florist local to them for a delivery?

SnuggleWuggle · 10/05/2021 20:44

Serenata flowers have always been amazing for me

nattynoonoo821 · 10/05/2021 20:46

Freddie flowers or arena

RampantIvy · 10/05/2021 20:46

I have used M and S a few times and received flowers from them, and they have been brilliant.

chesirecat99 · 10/05/2021 20:48

Do you specifically want letterbox flowers so they don't have to be in to accept them?

M&S have letterbox flowers and good customer service if you aren't happy. I swapped to their subscription service. Although, I had a great bouquet from Bloom & Wild sent as a gift recently. I think their one off bouquets seem to be fresher and nicer than the subscription ones. Ocado also sell Bloom & Wild and they seem to better than buying them directly.

I really recommend Appleyard! Currently running 25% off full price bouquets with code EAYTP25

SoddingWeddings · 10/05/2021 20:57

Freddies Flowers - always absolutely gorgeous.

Lovelydovey · 10/05/2021 20:57

Afraid I have had some awful experiences with Appleyard. One bouquet was replaced twice as it wasn’t up to standard and even then the third wasn’t great.

Had some good flowers from M&S recently though.

AnnaMagnani · 10/05/2021 20:57

Google a local florist and get them to deliver.

Very easy and you will get a lovely lot of flowers, hand tied and while supporting a local business.

I have a subscription to arena flowers. Been impressed so far, prefer them to bloom and wild..

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 10/05/2021 20:59

Great idea to order from a local florist. I hadnt thought of that.

Good recommendations too. Nice alternatives to Bloom and Wild.

That’s good to know. I have had a couple of bouquets from bloom n wild recently and they have been beautiful! I was thinking of treating myself to a subscription but maybe I won’t bother!!

OP you might be best just calling a local florist.

Either go local or try Arena Flowers. They are my go to now.

CheerfulBunny · 10/05/2021 21:02

I had very bad experiences with Appleyard so have switched to Freddies Flowers for myself which have been great. I had flowers from M&S and Moonpig for my birthday, both of which were good.

Actually I have to say, the Moonpig flowers from my brother were quite lovely, which I didn't expect really. I've used them to send to a friend in Wales as Interflora don't deliver in her area.

Vursayles · 10/05/2021 21:11

Does anyone know if you can give Freddie’s Flowers as a one-off gift? I joined thinking I could but was only able to see monthly subscription offers which I’m not really interested in.

PermanentTemporary · 10/05/2021 21:13

I've had great flowers from waitrose but I prefer going for a local florist if possible.

Standrewsschool · 10/05/2021 21:15

Next flowers have always been good.

Also used Flying Flowers and Bunches.

SoddingWeddings · 10/05/2021 22:04

@Vursayles yes you can, I send them whenever I send any bouquets now. Love them, they last for ages and it's just a bit more unusual than an Interflora bunch.

Thanks Weddings! I’ll have a look.

There are 2 levels of Bloom and Wild. The ones by 24 hour courier are always gorgeous. The ones that come by RM either get fried in a van in hot weather or frozen in winter.
I use them for 3 different relatives regularly and will pay the extra for the specific delivery method.

Fauvist · 10/05/2021 22:39

I would recommend Arena, too. I got my mum a subscription for her birthday and the deliveries have been amazing. So many flowers and really good quality.

That. I always phone a local florist. That way they can tell me what flowers they have available and in the best condition, or I can select exactly what's in the selection based on what I know the recipients love. Last time the florist even asked me exactly how many of each flower I'd like, so I could choose the proportions! Stepping away from the screen and talking to people is good sometimes!

It's always worked really well, and actually taking to someone means it's a lot easier to arrange the time of delivery etc.

And of course cutting out the middle man saves money.
