Quooker taps and formula

Hi everyone, I have exclusively expressed for my little boy for the past 4 months however my production is starting to slow down so I have purchased some formula in case I need to use it!

All instructions for formula talk about a kettle but we don’t have one we only have a quooker tap! Does anyone else make formula up with these and if so do you add the powder straight away then let it cool down?
Thanks in advance!

I think generally the advice is to add recently boiled water but not boiling. I would assume that a quooker tap would be too hot. Usually with mine who was ff, I boiled the kettle and let it sit for a bit, then poured in to bottle and added powder. I assume you would be fine to add the water from the tap to the bottle, let it cool for a bit so it's still hot but not boiling and then add the powder.

I'm not sure how the quooker tap works, but so long as you use water that has only been boiled once (not repeatedly boiled) and add powder to the water when it is over 70 degrees then it should be fine.

The instructions also say you shouldn't use filtered water and I think the quooker has a filter in it?

To be honest you'd be better off getting either a cheap kettle for a few pounds or a Tommee Tippee prep machine (I have one for my twins and it's been a life saver - got it second hand on eBay for £30)

If you still plan to breastfeed & are just stopping the expressing then ready made formula is fab. I gave it at room temp so no faffing about heating it & I always had one in the baby bag so I had option of bottle or breast when out. It can however be expensive if you plan to bottle feed more regularly. I did it with both children & they had roughly one bottle feed per day so very worth it

Thanks everyone, I only planned on giving on feed a day with formula, I’ve got one of those ready made ones in my bag Incase of an emergency but it’s just confusing me with this tap 😂
It states on their website it’s ok to use and is one of the selling points that you don’t have to wait for the kettle to boil. But surely the filter in it is only the same as the filter in a prep machine?

If its one feed a day I would use ready made or you'll end up chucking away powder as you won't finish a whole tub in time.

Thank you 😊 x

The filter in the Prep machine apparently filters out extra than what a normal filter tap does - or it could just be good marketing! 🤣
