I have an iZettle, takes about 3 working days for money to land and the commission is reasonable (1%)

Bearnecessity · 09/05/2021 17:38

That's interesting the Sum up one is a bit more at 1.69%

Do you pay this at point of sale or are you billed monthly, how does that work?

Just checked out Izettle on at 1.75% now.

It's paid at the point of sale.

Oh that's odd, I took a payment on Friday and was charged 1% Confused

I know someone with a sum up and they are happy with it.

In my experience with iZettle it works exactly how it says, the only thing to be wary of is that you don't take two large payments from the same card twice in a short period, this throws up a security trigger and the money may get held whilst it's investigated.
I took a deposit payment from customer which was 50% of the total and they paid the remainder on a different card a few days later with no problems.

Maybe you pay 1% because that is what it was when you bought it....

Thanks for the two payment tip....

How much will you put through it each month?

The iZettle/sumup/etc have quite high % taken from each transaction. However, I hear good things about them from colleagues that use them.

I have a clover flex. It runs off the wifi, but can also connect to my iPhone hotspot. There is a monthly rental fee (plus the DSS PCI compliance I pay Lloyds for, as I can't figure out how to do it myself) costs, however the % per transaction is lower.

One of my colleagues calculated that, if you take more than £1k a month you're better off with a contracted machine. I'd say it's higher than that, TBH, but you get the idea.

Ok Clover, that is helpful....no I will be taking small sums initially I expect....I an only dream of higher....
