I'm looking for resources to promote inclusion and doing ok with books, although there doesn't seem to be much on disability. Also any other items such as role play, small world etc. Grateful for any recommendations!

Is this for a school/nursery or for your own DC?

When I worked in a nursery we had a great set of lots of plastic small world people of different ethnicities/ages/abilities but I'm guessing it was quite expensive so I probably wouldn't buy it for my own DC unless they were really into small world play.

Lego Duplo do some really good people sets which have a large range of ethnicities and I think that one even comes with a wheelchair.

It's for a child care setting

Susan laughs is a good book where the main character is disabled. DS also has the little people big dreams book about Stephen Hawking all of those books are great for diversity. There is not so much for you children about disablity it is often forgotten about.

My body is me. Lovely book.

Lottie dolls have various inclusive dolls ( cochlear implant, Down’s syndrome ). There is also a barbie wheelchair set.

Small world block people have a fairly comprehensive range too.

For books- The Everywhere Bear by Julia Donaldson is good

Look Up is a great book too

Aw I think those were the small world people we had at nursery - cheaper than I thought too.

Minnie and Max are OK is a lovely story about celebrating personalities and skills over appearances. More suited to the 4+ age range.

Amazing Grace books, by Mary Hoffman.
My Two Grannies, by Floella Benjamin. I think there is also a My Two Grandads.
