SAS Who Dares Wins - sexist and Islamaphobic??

This is not intended as a goody post. I’m genuinely interested to hear views of people from all (or no) faiths.

Sorry for the Daily Fail link but it was served to me via social media.

Anyway, a Muslim contestant in the SAS Who Dares Wins show believes that she was held back due to insensitivity over her faith and gender.

She was not offered halal food so had to eat vegetarian meals, she feared hypothermia as she felt she had to keep on cold wet clothes rather than get changed in front of (male, I assume) competitors, she became constipated as she could not use the same bucket toilets as men and other examples.

I am genuinely in 2 minds about this:

I feel for her that, in our current climate we STILL have to call out that we have cultural, religious and gender differences and should not have to make do with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. This is only only a TV show and, as a contestant who will likely bring in many different types of viewers, she should be treated fairly. This is not a war situation after all.

Or

She knows what she was going into. The competition emulates real SAS training conditions and war-like situations. The TV company provides the minimum for survival - food, shelter etc. She should suck it up as it was her choice to enter.

What do you think?

I mean, how un-SAS could you get by these complaints 🙄

I seem to remember a male contestant withdrew for religious reasons last time due to the toilet arrangements. I may be misremembering but I certainly don’t recall any fuss about it.

TitsInAbsentia · 08/05/2021 23:59

What an idiot. If she'd really wanted to succeed she could easily found a way of getting changed without flashing more flesh than she's showing in those crop top photos. Pooping in a bucket - was the issue it already had mens poop in in or people could see her going? Personally when I have to go I go, nothing in the world can stop me! Attention seeking nonsense. Take your filled lips and do one.

TitsInAbsentia · 09/05/2021 00:04

^She was eliminated on the first day after failing a challenge that involved running up a mountain carrying a 50kg weight, which left her severely bruised.

Ms Khan, who weighs 51kg said: 'What I was carrying should have been proportionate to my body weight. There were male contestants who weighed a lot more than that and it was a lot easier for them.^

Yes...because of course in a real life SAS situation you'd be given a lightweight bergen/less munitions to carry because of your smaller weight and frame...

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 09/05/2021 00:16

Utter utter rubbish.

Zero sympathy for this woman and her attention seeking hypocritical nonsense.

I’m Muslim and I know there are some sectors of British life that don’t align with me. Like pork, and alcohol, and clubbing...so I don’t put myself in situations that necessitate eating/doing any of those things. And I still, shockingly, manage to have a full and complete life that is Muslim and British.

Mydogmylife · 09/05/2021 00:28

She's a complete idiot and makes light of people suffering genuine discrimination . She signed up for an SAS show , not some stroll in the park !

AgeLikeWine · 09/05/2021 00:41

Neither sexist nor islamophobic.

Ms Khan was treated exactly the same as all the other contestants. She knew what she was signing up for, yet she is now asserting that she should have been entitled to preferential treatment because of her gender and religion. That’s not equality. And now she’s trying to play the ‘discrimination’ card for publicity, complete with obligatory pouting photos, of course. Ridiculous.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 09/05/2021 00:44

I sometimes watch this because Foxy is hot but in all honesty I think they should have male and female teams separate.

RolloTomassi · 09/05/2021 00:46

If they pandered to everyone who took her attitude then the show wouldn't be what it is, and we wouldn't all be watching. She's an attention-seeking arse.

Publicity stunt maybe? If you have watched the show you would know what to expect.

And as for ‘forced to eat vegetarian’ oh dear! Someone call the UN!

I wouldn’t want to undress infront of strangers or ooo in a bucket - so I certainly wouldn’t go on this show. Did she also want a nice comfy bed to sleep in and her own bathroom?
