Any Dentists out there? (Or anyone who knows if this is normal?)

DS2 is 7 (8 in July) and has very suddenly developed a huge gap at both sides of his front teeth.

It looks like he has lost both his lateral incisors but he hasn't.

He lost his two bottom teeth last year but no sign of wobbling at the top.

Obviously I have tried to make an appointment with our dentist but there is nothing for at least a month.

I'm just curious.

Has he lost other top teeth? Existing teeth might just be moving due to extra room.

None!

He has autism and found his bottom teeth coming out really upsetting so he would we would know if one were even a little bit wobbly.

I should say the gaps started small but are now very prominent.

Can you post a photo?

My Ds is 7 and the same has happened to his recently, his front teeth are wobbly, as are a few others, so I assume it's just things moving around to make way for new teeth

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 08/05/2021 06:13

I was just trying to get a photo but it's impossible with him. :o

All his front teeth look crooked now!

Could it really be just normal teeth moving around? He's not that great verbally and has been a little off recently so I'm just worried that he's sore and doesn't know how to tell me.

He's eating fine, no complaints.

Teeth are extraordinary things that have a mind of their own. It’s probably their way of making way for new teeth. I worked with 7 year olds and their teeth were all shapes, sizes with gaps, and it’s the ones with weird teeth that grow up to have a perfect set of teeth ! So don’t worry. But the dentist will probably take an X-ray just to put your mind at rest.

CupoTeap · 08/05/2021 06:28

If none of the top ones have come out yet, personally I would assume they will very soon.

I saw an X-ray of DDs head before they started coming out and it is amazing to see the adult teeth already there just waiting to move down.

Dd did spend a while looking like Nanny McPhee when hers where coming through Grin

Maybe use this time to prepare him. Try a few different approach's to see if you can reduce his anxiety about it all.

This is why I love MN. DS1's teeth just popped out as expected.

Hah! :o I suppose that's what it might be. It's different with the top teeth.

Do you think it hurts? Or am I being a soft arse imagining the worst?

I think it's different fir everyone, mine have occasionally mentioned being uncomfortable which I think comes more from the teeth being pushed against other teeth iyswim.
