Had a holiday booked for last June which was obviously cancelled. Felt I was doing the right thing by changing it and not getting a refund to help the travel industry. Obviously thought (perhaps naively) this would be a long distant memory.
I'm meant to travel 17th May to Turkey. It's obviously not going to happen. However having spoke to the airline today they are still adamant travel will open on the 17th. Turkey at the minute are in full lockdown and will surely be in the red category. They said we could still technically go and if the flight isn't cancelled we would not get a refund. The obvious answer is to change it again which we can apparently do free of charge and just pay any difference in price of flight. This is the issue after spending hours looking at others dates/destinations the airline flys to the price is double what we originally paid. So to change I would effectively feel like I'm paying again. So I now either lose the money or pay again.
Is anyone else in a similar position?
Not sure who I'm annoyed at Boris and his traffic light system. The country is either safe to go to or it's not. Or the airline who I feel I was trying to do the right thing by when I could see how much they must be struggling.
