Hayfever so bad I can't do my job

Obviously I'm not taking time off sick for this as it sounds pathetic, but really I'm struggling so much. I teach full time in an infant school. I spend all day projecting my voice (not shouting). My class are absolutely lovely and they have been very sweet today but they deserve a teacher who is well. My nose is constantly streaming so I need a tissue attached to it. I'm really wheezy even with an inhaler every 30 mins. My voice is so croaky and sore. I can't pronounce the sounds for phonics correctly. My head is really congested and throat incredibly sore.

If I could hide away in a quiet office it would be fine but I need to be on good form. I've tried fexofenadine, all over the counter meds, benadryl 15 mins, phenergan, loratiditine, piriton, cetirizine, eye drops, nasal sprays. Does an injection help? Acupuncture? I'm desperate 😪

@ChristonaMoped

You need to see someone tonight if breathing is hard work.

Get well soon.

Yes, you absolutely do. Please seek medical advice tonight.

That sounds awful OP. You poor thing.

Have you tried a heap filter air purifier. One in your bedroom might give you some hours without breathing in allergens.

@mayblossominapril

You can get much better antihistamines from the gp
She's tried fexofenadine

I’ve taken time off for hayfever before (one of only 4 or 5 days off in the last 18 years so I don’t take time off lightly)
Fexofenadine just about works for me once I’ve taken it for a week or so and combined with a nasal spray which you also need to take for a week or so to let it build up in your system.
It’s utterly miserable and completely debilitating when at its worst.
Definitely take time off and definitely see someone urgently and be assertive as to how bad it is

You need to speak to someone tonight re your breathing Op.

That sounds utterly miserable, I’m sorry you’re suffering. As a pp said, it must be bad at the moment as I was out today and I don’t have hayfever but even I noticed that my eyes and nose felt itchy.

Definitely get medical help asap if you’re struggling to breathe.
