Did teething cause fever in your DCs?

GP says it doesn’t but DS has some lower teeth coming through and every bloody afternoon has a low grade temp.
I’ve got a GP appointment tomorrow and have spoken to them twice over the last couple of weeks it’s been going on, but just wondered if anyone had experienced this?

He’s fine until about 1 then gets a bit warm and when I check it’s always 37.5-38 (rarely 38). He’s had a Covid test and various other tests related to something different, so I was thinking it must be teething? Or a UTI. Will try and get a sample for the GP tomorrow (that will be fun).

Anyone had the same?

Thank you so much -we've had way more dirty nappies than usual and they're definitely ahem more splattery.
And everything is going in his mouth at the moment.

He hasn't gone off his food or anything like that which has made me think he's not poorly

Yes be very tooth and also a cough and the runs. Teetha crystals helped a lot. And nurofen

Yes, always had a fever, drooling, a cold and red cheeks teething.

grapefruitish · 06/05/2021 01:28

Oh yes, and the teething nappies!

Susannahmoody · 06/05/2021 02:05

My 2 both definitely had fever whilst teething.

YukoandHiro · 06/05/2021 02:06

If it's been going on for a while it could be an ear infection which can hurt them in a similar place

11 mo currently cutting top 2 front teeth and after a failed nap, a horrible nappy and 2 very pink cheeks I took her temp which was 37.5 - the highest its ever been (luckily we've been v healthy so far, one benefit of lockdown I suppose). For the bottom 2 she also had pink cheeks but I didn't have a thermometer then so not sure. Hope your son is back to normal soon

My DD never had a temperature but she does get awful stomach upsets with teeth which is apparently another myth. More than willing to pass on a nappy to the GP or health visitor for confirmation of that! DD is now 2.5 and getting her last teeth and still has dodgy nappies - although not as bad as they used to be.

Thank you! I’m speaking to the doctor today but I’m fully prepared for him to say again that temps with teething aren’t a thing
@hirewiredays if he hadn't had a covid test previously when it started I think our GP might have thought the same. DH and I did a lateral flow just to check as we figured if we were positive DS would likely be, but negative.

@bumbledeedum months?! God I'm not sure my nerves can take it! He's only got as high as 38, and it's usually around 37.7/8 tops so sounds similar.

@FeelinHappy sounds very very similar. It either seems to be for nap time, sometimes stretches on til dinner time but he seems fine with it, we've only given him calpol when it hit 38 and he was a bit grumpy (frantically biting everything and half crying while doing it) and it was more for what seemed to be teething discomfort.

Our GP is very good so I'm hoping they can put my mind at rest, but I'm also half hoping we don't have to go in as since the hospital stay DS gets hysterical whenever anyone but me of DH tries to examine him or take his temp etc.

Thanks for posting and sharing your anecdotes, obviously it won't be taken in the place of medical advice :) Just everywhere I looked online health-wise stated that it doesn't happen!
Yes it was a bit worrying to start of with but to be honest it just became normal that he'd be warm for a day or two every couple of days. Sometimes we'd give him calpol if it seemed to go on awhile or if he was uncomfortable but generally he was fine in himself and still eating/drinking, normal amount of nappies etc and no other causes for concern so we just got on with things. Doctor had said the same at the beginning, you'll know if a baby isn't well, they'd be more than just a slightly elevated temp. Hope things resolve with your little one soon.

Yup, all three. As well as the other things that are supposedly unrelated, such as runny nappies. Funny how they always all had them when a tooth was about to cut through, would have been amazing co incidences for the to be stomach bugs.

My 8 month olds bottom and top teeth are about to cut through. She’s been waking a night screaming and rubbing her gums against bedding, felt hot to touch, bright red cheeks, the odd runny nappy when it’s really bad.

Her head and face were biking last night for a little while. I wish these buggers would cut through. They look so close under the gum.
