I have plantar fasciitis and I am sick of wearing flat ballet pumps so I treated myself to some Birks for summer. Wore them yesterday and this morning and they hurt! The arch of my foot feels like I’m walking on a stone!

Please tell me they get more comfortable as I bloody love them 😩

So Iv had them on all morning and it seems to be less painful and actually quite comfy!

The only thing is I have dry skin on the side of my foot snd that seems to be playing up. I shall whack the moisturiser on later!

Ballet flats for PF is a terrible idea. They are so bad for your feet and offer no support at all.

I also can't wear Birkenstock's although others with PF like them. I have v high arches and I don't think the arch is high enough for me.

What has worked for me is adding arch supports in all my shoes. I also wear oofos around the house and as flip flops in the summer.

Don't ever walk in bare feet.

I think as pps said they either fit your foot and are comfortable, or don’t and never are. I’m in the latter group - persisted with them for ages and they never stopped hurting. I threw them away in the end.

I have PF and fairly flat feet and birkenstocks were agonising for me to wear. Worse bit was they gave me cramp in my toes! So flipping painful.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 05/05/2021 11:15

I cried the first time i wore mine, not because they hurt cos by god they did but I persevered and broke them in

Or they broke my foot in 🤔 iv had quite a few paird in the meantime and ive never had the problem since

I have several pairs, most are bliss but one pair feel nice when I put them on but after a couple of hours feel like they're draining the life out of my feet, no idea why.

The shaped arch always rubs on the inside of my foot and gives me blisters, I hate them.

EversoDelighted · 05/05/2021 17:35

Crocs are horrendous for my PF, I agree that it does depend a lot on your feet, what caused the PF etc.

ATowelAndAPotato · 05/05/2021 17:53

I love birkies for my PF but have to make sure I get the ones with straps across the top of the foot/ankle. If they just have the toe straps, or are a loose fit then you are possibly still clawing your toes when you walk which will be aggravating the PF.

takemetomiami · 05/05/2021 17:55

Never found mine comfy, they give me blisters on the soles of my feet and they've never got better. Bought fit flops instead which are far less pretty but much easier on the feet!

I don’t know about PF but my Birkenstocks took quite a long time to break in. I nearly gave up on them last summer but so glad I didn’t because they’re so comfortable now. I wore them about the house with socks in the end to get used to them.
