I've always rinsed out plastic pots/containers etc before I put them in the recycling bag. OH said not to bother as it's a waste of time and just put it straight in the bag after use.
I think he's probably right and it's just a habit I've got into but do you rinse it or fling it?
Lighthearted - I'm not losing any sleep over it 😍

No bags, just the big bin. I put some in the dishwasher if I can't get them clean easily by hand and I rinse out toiletry bottles too. Black bottles go in the bin as they can't be recycled but I'm trying to get dh not to buy black plastic anymore.

Where I live ( not UK) they will reject a whole bin if any food residue is visible in recyclable items. They leave a note requesting clean items.

I never wash or rinse it, I just sling it in the recycling bin

There are no recycling bags here either. You dump your items straight into a blue wheelie, loose, with no bagging permitted. I keep all of mine in a bin which I empty into the wheelie when full.

Yes all my recycling is washed and drip dried before going in the bag. It contaminated the other materials otherwise, rendering the whole bag useless

I give them a courtesy rinse but I'm not standing there scrubbing something going in the bin.
We cant put bags in ours anymore. No idea why as they are recyclable Confused

I couldn’t put anything dirty in the recycling. I’m far from being a clean freak, but the thought of a lot of smelly, rancid stuff sitting in the bin for days on end, especially in warmer weather, is 🤮.

And that’s me - what about the poor dustbin men?
