Admiral Home Insurance- Boiler question

Hi

I hope no one minds me posting this in chat, it seems to have a bit more traffic tham the Property boards and maybe someone can give me some advice/their experience.

Years ago, roughly 2017/2018 a Pump on our Boiler needed replacing. We had no hot water or heating, so I called Admiral (with who I have Boiler Emergency Cover as part of the Home Insurance) and someone came out.

He asked at the time, if we have trouble with our radiators/hot water, we said we did notice occasionally our radiators come on after using our hot water.

Fast forward to now and our radiators come on boiling daily and everytime after running the hot tap. We obviously want this sorted before any hot water in the summer :-)

I called Admiral today and explained that the engineer advised us before that the Diverter Valve would need replacing
The Boiler Emergency team advised I should call their normal Buildings Insurance team
Their Buildings Insurance Team advised that the Boiler Cover is only for temporary fixes and any permanent repairs they do not do.

They have advised to call back tomorrow when the team are back in (as it is a Bank holiday today) but in the meantime does anyone have any experience/advice?

And, if someone has any experience/advice on how much they paid for a new Diverter Valve/Actuator replacement I would be grateful as I will have to gather some quotes if the Insurance doesnt cover it :-)

Cannot really advise on your insurance but it sounds like the previous engineer warned you the valve was on it's way out and therefore it would count as a maintenance issue rather than an emergency repair. Are you gas or oil?

It is Gas.

That would make sense ie being a maintenance issue

Get three quotes from Gas Safe registered engineers in your area. Find them on www.gassaferegister.co.uk. They will usually want to know what model of boiler you have as there are various valves that can be used. It shouldn't be silly money.
