Best option to watch Amazon & Netflix on TV via laptop?

On my last laptop I had an HMDI connector to connect to the TV. However, more and more new laptops don't seem to have this HDMI connector option. I am looking for a new laptop at the moment.

If I buy a laptop without the HDMI, what are the best options for me to stream Amazon and Netflix on my TV via the laptop?

Google Chromecast?

I use the Chromecast to cast from my phone and tablet wirelessly. Although now I have a smart TV so don't cast often.

Definately chromecast. I found that Amazon tv streams better from my mobile rather than the laptop to the tv though.

I will definitely look up the chromecast!

Do I need a smart TV or certain type of TV?

Can I ask - does the phone need to be hooked up to the Chromecast throughout a movie, for example?

Definitely a chromecast. They're pretty cheap, work brilliantly, and no cables needed. Your TV needs to have a USB or hdmi port, which all of them do now. And you need an OK wifi connection.

USB c to HDMI does the trick.

We have a mixture of smart t s, now tv sticks And Amazon stick can easily cast from phone or laptop to tv.

Once you've passed a stream to the chromecast you can switch off the device you were using and the chromecast continues.

Amazon does not chromecast from a laptop browser though, but can from the amazon prime video app on phone or tablet.

You end up using your phone as a kind of remote control which is very good. TV still for volume and on most you can use pause on the TV remote too.

I'm a fan, enables older TV to be used as smart TVs when TV manufacturers or app developers stop support for apps.
