Arghhhhh.

Iv been doing keto for the last 4 weeks and have lost 25lb. I currently weigh 22stone and im 5ft9. I’m absolutely terrified that I’m going to be to heavy for the equipment!

But my 11yo ds has been asking to join so he has an induction booked for Wednesday with me.

I’m so nervous 😩

Yeah, holding on to water. Sore muscles that have worked had need extra water in them to heal and get strong and lean.
The water will go in a few days, and you will be stronger and leaner.

Don’t ever stop being active if your weight goes up.

KatherineJaneway · 06/05/2021 08:01

Good for you OP!

Don't forget to stretch and have a cool down after exercising.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 06/05/2021 09:03

I really need to buy a sports bra, but I don’t have much boobage and don’t want to look completely flat chested :(

Can anyone recommend one?

I’m going to enquire about a personal trainer today!

Shock Absorber sports bras are fantastic, you're doing amazing!

GetTheStartyParted · 06/05/2021 12:35

@Thedarksideofthemoon30 I got my sports bra from Amazon, looked at reviews and photos and chose the one that seemed best. Happy with it, it keeps everything in place Grin

Inspired by your courage, I have just been for my first ever run outside! I have been running on my treadmill for the last maybe 5 weeks but it was so different! No one seemed to really notice me and if they said anything (my biggest fear), then I didn't hear because I was blasting music in my headphones Grin Thanks for the unintentional shove in the right direction. I hope you're not too achy today.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 06/05/2021 14:45

Ahhh well done!! That’s amazing!

I have never ever ran. I struggle to walk tbh 😂

Good for you OP, wish I had the courage to join a gym.

Cam2020 · 06/05/2021 15:33

Well done! You'll be fine on the equipment, sone pretty big men use it all.

ChristonaMoped · 06/05/2021 15:38

OP - ask if your GP offers you an exercise on prescription scheme - it will give you discounted membership and group sessions (one is something called healthy lifestyle which I found a bit BS BUT I met people). It also gives you personal training and support for several weeks.

Through the groups I met ladies who became my gym buddies.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 07/05/2021 13:09

Second day at the gym tonight! My arms still ache 😂

Themadcatparade · 07/05/2021 13:17

Awh well Done OP this is incredible!! Hope you enjoy it.! Try to weigh yourself weekly your weight is guaranteed to go up once you start the gym and it can be really disheartening and can implant your mindset and therefore motivation.

Soon enough you will see a gradual decline in your weight if you plot the measurements on a graph it really makes a difference visually over time!

Iv really hurt my heal 😩 i have plantar fasciitis but it seems to have been playing up more since I started. Iv been putting deep heat ice on it and it’s helping. Can I do anything else?

Oh no! It probably needs rest OP, unfortunately. Google some stuff you can do at home to help, some kind of compression bandage or sock might be good. I’d stay off the treadmill for a while, but could you still use the bike or the rowing machine or something (sorry not sure how painful it is), be a shame to let it stop you going?
Have you got decent supportive trainers btw?

JumpingJacky · 09/05/2021 10:29

Sorry to hear that OP. I find an ice block (type you put in lunch boxes) or a sandwich bag filled with ice more effective than the spray stuff. Apply for 15 minutes 4 times a day. Take ibuprofen regularly for inflammation as well.

You’ve been using the Treadmill?

Can I advise staying off it and using the crosstrainer instead? The Crosstrainer is much lower impact on your feet and joints. Just try a few minutes each time in between doing some weights. Try to build up to 10 minutes in total per session and take it from there.

Hope you feel better and get back at it very soon.

Enko · 09/05/2021 12:08

Op for the plantar have you tried some inserts in your shoes? I found it eased it a bit. Only thing I truly found worked though was allegria shoes they are expensive bit their rolling motion changes how your feet move and it got my pain to go away

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 09/05/2021 18:28

Thank you everyone! I taped my foot up and it’s helping abit. I bought some Birkenstock’s and I think that’s caused it!

I’m back at the gym tomorrow and Iv even booked in for lunchtime on Tuesday to go on my own :)

Good luck OP, you’ve got this!!

readingismycardio · 11/05/2021 10:21

Well done, OP! You've got this and you're gonna end up loving it, it's a bit addictive! ❤️

Mollymalone123 · 11/05/2021 10:21

Well done you! I remember being really nervous when I first went to the gym- madd my daughter go with me 😂 unfortunately I had to stop going in the end as need knee replacements ( I’m falling apart) but once I got into it I was going on my own and it really helped.

ARoseByAnyOtherNameIsStillAs · 11/05/2021 10:32

Well done on what you have achieved so far and good luck in the future 👍

I wish I could do it too.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 12/05/2021 18:23

So I bought a new pair of gym leggings, I love them and they feel great but my god they make me sweat and then when I stand up there’s always a wet patch!! Is this normal? It’s so embarrassing! Do I take a towel?

Well done Op. You're doing amazingly. I remember how daunting it was for me to join the gym too! I've recently trained with a PT and I highly recommend. They are awesome motivators. I haven't lost much weight because I still eat rubbish but I feel so much fitter.

I guess it depends if you are someone that sweats more than others. It doesn't happen to me (im a big girl too, 18st,) I wear Asda workout clothes.
