Tired horrible skin

Over the last few months my skin has started to look really old, dull grey and tired - and sometimes a bit blotchy. I'm quite tired and a bit stressed (and at the moment there isn't anything I can do about that) but not particularly more so than normal and my skin has never been like this before

Does anyone have any recommendations? Skincare, diet, magic, anything - but not too expensive (budget is an issue)

Lots of water
Plenty of sleep
Sunscreen
A cheap AHA serum (The Ordinary or Superdrug)
Pluck eyebrows

This one’s a bit left-field but you could also try face yoga.

Are you eating properly? Healthy fats, fruit and veg etc. My skin is terrible if I lose weight, sort of grey looking.

Also loads of water. And no alcohol (sorry!).
I know it sounds really boring, but I find it is more what you put into your body than what you put on your skin that makes the biggest difference.

As the previous poster has stated it is more important what you put in your body. Drinking water instead of fizzy drinks is a small start.

Thanks everyone. I don't eat too badly, I drink lots of water and I don't drink alcohol.

Just wondering if you regularly exfoliate?

Babycham71 · 03/05/2021 16:45

ST ives Invigorating scrub, 3 times a week. Been using it for over 30 yrs. I smoke and drink too ( for decades) and annoyingly to all, at 49, look fresh as a daisy. No idea why. I also do drink lots of water and eat well.

I think a lot is genetics. Try the scrub and a sensitive night cream at bedtime.

Try also manage your stress where possible- easier said than done. Even if you take 10 mins at bedtime to listen to something calming while your night cream absorbs. Also sleep, lots of sleep is key.

Drink at least 2L of water daily.
Use oil cleansing method I learnt from MN about 5 years ago.
Weekly homemade turmeric, yoghurt and raw honey facemask.

I eat clean and lots of healthy fats (eg animal, dairy, avocado but no sunflower type oils.) No refined carbs and few other carbs.

Regularly get mistaken for up to 10 years younger so it works. And it's cheap. My skin care regime comes in at about £3 a month if that.

Dettol baths. Five capfuls diluted in a deep bath. Obviously make sure you get the original, which is suitable for first aid (it says it on the front of the bottle) and not one of the fragranced ones that you clean the floor with.

DH has been having them over the last week as he’s got lots of scratches and scrapes on his legs at the moment and his skin has never been in such good condition. Especially his feet.

My skin has been totally rescued by starting to use The Ordinary products a few weeks ago. So cheap but so effective. I have used really expensive stuff in the past that I realise now was a total waste of money!

I find too much carb makes me look blotchy, grey and bloated. Have a week eating less bread, pasta, sugar etc and I bet you'll see a difference.

Agree with this. I always look good when I low carb, lots of good fats, etc..
