Near miss with dog

I can't get it out of my head.
Context... Came off Duel Carriageway onto rural A road. Limit is 30 through a bunch of houses just off the DC. Dog comes running out of footpath at right angles to road, straight across. Both the car coming opposite way and me had to do Emergency stops. If dog had come from my side of road I would have hit it. If driver on other side of road had been closer they would have hit.
The owners were at least 100m away down the path. As we began to move away I saw the other dog do exactly the same thing. Only it didn't get hit was the traffic was just setting off.

I can't get the What IDs out of my head. Not reacting quick enough. Another car close behind. Coming from other side of road. Been a child instead of dog. Mixed with this is anger towards the owners. Their lack of care meant they nearly lost their dogs and caused an accident.

Its a busy road. Many vehicles do a lot more than 30 on that stretch. Why let your dog run so far from you off lead?

That sounds frightening OP and I can see why it upset you, but you have literally no idea of the circumstances of why the dog was running off its lead. There's no point being angry. Just feel thankful and move on.

I'm assuming they didn't 'let' it run off that far ahead.

You're right. I don't why it was so far away. But the owners were stroking along the footpath while their dogs were in a road 100m away.

I've seen many escaped dogs before... Usually with owners chasing them.

The main thing is your alright a near miss would shake anyone up your probperly in a bit of shock.

As harsh a it sounds I would brake it it was safe to (no one to close behind) but never sure or anything potentially causing an accident to avoid a dog.

My friend run a dog over the owner had the lead round his shoulders . It ran out between 2 cars she went straight over it the owner was very very aggressive to the point she thought he was going to hit her . A good few£100's pound came to bumper which he refused to pay .
