Post A'Levels holiday

I want to book a holiday for dd and me for summer 2022.

Am I correct in thinking if A'Level exams go ahead as "normal" they'll be done by the end of June, so I can book a holiday in early July when it's a bit cheaper?

DD missed an amazing holiday due to Covid, I can't afford to replicate it but going before the school term finishes means I can book something a bit more special for the same cost.

Yes you should be safe to book something from the very end of June. Just watch out for the "contingency day" which I think would have been around 26th June last year. Book for after that (and obviously any school/college events). After ds GCSEs I think we went away around 7th July (I also had a work thing which meant we couldn't go a few days early).

Also factor in any school events that your daughter might want to attend - ie leavers service/prom/prizes which can be early July in our school

This. Contact the school to find out, my sister booked an amazing trip but it clashed with prom so my niece didn't want to go (which turned out excellent for me)

Think you’ll find kids do their exams by end of May. Most kids doing GCSEs and alevels are leaving school before May half term.

Poppycat is correct students have to be available till 5pm on national contingency day in case any event cause examinations to be cancelled. This is the info about national contingency day 2020.
SunIsComing · 02/05/2021 17:55

Contingency day is 7 or 10 June.

SunIsComing · 02/05/2021 17:56

Remember alevel results is 10 august...

Suniscoming contingency day in 2019 was 26th June and in 2020 was set for 24th June. Normally there are always GCSE and A level exams timetabled for after May half term. A level results are only 10th August this year because they have been brought forward to allow more time for appeals.

Sorry, missed the critical piece of information - OP is talking about 2022 (doh!)

DiamondBright · 02/05/2021 23:29

Thanks everyone, I'll check with school what usually happens with prom but it looks like I can probably book something early July.
