Ceramic sink vs stainless steel?

Having a kitchen makeover. We'll be changing the doors to a dark blue colour and everywhere I've always seen a white ceramic sink which does look good. However, my current sink is white and plastic - I'm sure there's a proper term for the actual material but don't know it! It it the bane of my life - it gets dirty really quickly and I have to bleach every few days which I don't want to. It triggers my asthma. I want a stainless steel one which I can just throw anything into and keep it looking clean easily.

Am I mad to go for a ceramic one when I cook alot. I have kids whom no matter how much I tell them not to throw things in the sink, still do!

Also one more thing. Was thinking of brass door handles. Will it look really stupid with a stainless sink and tap?! TIA

To be honest, even if something did get smashed, and the sink itself got smashed, I would definitely replace with the same one. It's that lovely.

Ceramic sinks here too, although I have to say, stainless steel is MUCH easier to care for. I find Bar Keeper's friend to be the best cleaner for the ceramic, takes off any metallic scratches left from the pans and trays when washing up. We also have a washing up bowl in one side (double sink), and not had any problems with things smashing (no more than from the granite work surface/tiled floors anyway).

I'd say SS is the head decision, ceramic the heart.

Could you get an under mounted sink so it would be less visible to avoid the clash of brass/steel?

Barkeepers Friend once or twice a week takes care of any marks

Thankyou both for this tip, I’ve had Barkeepers Friend in the cupboard for years but tend not to use it much as I don’t like the smell. Also didnt realise that it could be used for ceramics (although it states it on the bottle🤦🏼‍♀️) Just gave it a go on the black marks on my sink and wow, in five minutes it’s spotless!
