Turkish Massage - innapropriate?

I’ve just read a post about someone’s Dr touching their breasts at an appointment and whether it seemed normal and it reminded me about a Turkish massage I had on holiday.

I’m suspecting the massage I had, at a hotel spa, was not normal but I didn’t say anything at the time because I was embarrassed.

It was a male masseuse. I was in a bikini as we had a Turkish bath first. I laid face down and undone my strap but still had my bikini underneath me. He started off by yanking my bikini from under me, which exposed me in the process and during the massage on my back, he went round the sides and underneath me touching my breasts. I just froze and was mortified. I’ve not had many massages before so was unsure whether this was a traditional massage technique and I’m not confrontational so I just got out of there as soon as I could. Looking back I know I should have said something. Has anyone experienced similar?

In my experience, A Turkish massage/bath is very different to a regular spa massage. It is usual for Woman to just wear bikini bottoms. You are exfoliates and then washed all over, so yes it would be different if you went in expecting a regular massage. I can't say if what you experienced was inappropriate. I just wanted to give you my experience of what Turkish Massage involves.

As PP said, Turkish massages are very different. I’ve only had them in Egypt where they insist on female masseuses for female clients (and men for men). I had much the same happen. But, without being there with you it’s hard to say if it was inappropriate or the norm.

I’m so sorry you were made to feel uncomfortable.

I had that but with a woman. It was uncomfortable but everyone seemed to be experiencing it that way (bit you also purposely lay on your back whilst they did it). Not sure about your situation though. I wouldn't want a man.

I’m actually so glad I asked as I’ve always wondered whether it was a cultural thing or whether it was inappropriate. It was embarrassing and unexpected but I did wonder whether it was just part of the massage.

I've had a really uncomfortable massage in Thailand. I blame myself really for putting myself in that position. I walked into a parlour with my friend and she went for a foot massage and I went for a body massage.
I got given a male masseuse and didn't say anything even though I felt immediately uncomfortable. I got taken upstairs to a secluded area where I was told to lie on a mattress thing topless which was hidden by curtains. There was a lady having a massage next to me as I could hear her.

I was already tense and really regretting it and we hadn't even started.

Anyway in fairness he was actually really good. I was lying face time. However when he got me to turn around I had a towel on my breasts and he picked it up to flap it unnecessarily, exposing me.
Then he started to massage me from my legs and things up. He went very very high on my leg. So he brushed his hands literally on my 'bits' through the underwear about 5-6 times. Not just a bit around it or on my crotch but directly on me. I froze and couldn't wait for it to end.

I understand he probably thought I might have been after a 'happy ending' but it really wasn't a good experience.
I won't be going with a male masseuse again . It's worth saying I'm not really experienced in having massages and don't really know what's normal.

OP, your experience sounds a bit too intimate but I'm not sure what is meant to happen with Turkish massages. I do understand where you are coming from.
