Mud stain on clothes - any hope in getting it out?

My daughter managed to get mud splatters on her new joggers today when at a friends house. When we got home, I sprayed vanish on them and let it soak in before washing on a 60 degree wash. I’ve just taken them out of the machine and they are worse than when they went it! Mud is all over them, in places where is wasn’t on when they went into the wash! Can they be saved?

Oh I hate stains, and I seem to be so good at them! My worst one is that I take a catnap in my pure new wool coat and dribble on it.

Don't know about mud, will google. Were they light grey initially?

No, bright pink! We’ve only had them a week or so. The strange thing is the mud is worse than when they went into the machine! It’s not splattered all over.

It looks like you need to get must of the mud off first when dry and then washing up liquid with cold water and blot and repeat til it's out. So elbow work basically.

Must = most :)

The best way is to let the mud dry, then brush as much off as you can, then soak in warm water with detergent or soda crystals in, with vanish type product in it too.
If you do that now, leave them to soak overnight then wash them again.

Vanish powder for coloured fabric in the wash? Rub a mixture of powder and washing liquid (bio for colours) on the stain first, add a scoop to the drum and Wash at 95?
Might fade slightly but worth a try.

Never wash stains in hot water. Hot water sets the stains

I would wash again with bio powder on a normal cotton wash at 40. Not a quick wash, a long 2-3 hr cottons. Then hang outside to dry in the sun. Sunlight on wet clothing removes many stains.
