What wide fit trainers.. Women's.

I unusually wear Nike or Adidas or whatever I find.
I like quite plain. White summer. Black winter.

I live in trainers. I have a bunion and at the moment surgery isn't an option.
But the trainers all seem too tight

What others aren't tight or a wide fit?

Thank you

Fitflop suit my naturally wide feet ( high arch, slimmer heel) . Very comfortable.

ZenNudist · 01/05/2021 16:04

Altra meant to be roomy in the toe box?

FrogFairy · 01/05/2021 16:40

I have wide fit New Balance walking trainers. I have had them for years, I think they were around £90.

Brooks and New Balance both do wide fit in certain models. Altras are wide in the toe box but have a zero heel drop so don't work for everyone.

cheeseychovolate · 01/05/2021 17:11

JD Williams do wide fit sketchers. Might not be fashionable but might be comfortable.

Fluffandbubbles · 01/05/2021 17:14

Brooks, New Balance, Hoka and On Cloud are the only brands that do a ‘D’ widefit running trainers.

BikeRunSki · 01/05/2021 17:17

New Balance and Brooks are both both wide as standard, and do a wide fit in some styles.

emmathedilemma · 03/05/2021 15:07

I don't find Brooks "standard" wide at all and I have very narrow feet.

Try Hotter shoes

Talipesmum · 03/05/2021 15:30

Try the “men’s” trainers in your size, if that’s possible. They are usually cut wider.
I’ve got a few this way - even got some nice suede loafers in tkmaxx from the men’s at the weekend. I tried on the equivalent women’s in the same size and it was like Cinderella’s ugly sister trying to squeeze into the shoe. The men’s in the same brand and same size were absolutely fine.

Alternatively, I’ve found karrimor trainers in sports direct to be wider fit. Or, Nike revolution trainers are quite wide.

I am not sure about trainers but M&S wide fit are the only shoes that fit me perfectly every time

Fallstar · 03/05/2021 15:51

Mizuno trainers generally have a wide toe-box. The Waverider ones are a good shape for my bunion.

whatnow41 · 03/05/2021 16:21

You need trainers with a fabric top rather than leather/synthetic that doesn't have as much give. Depending on how wide, DB shoes do wider fit trainers. They have certain fabric tops that are waterproof but have the give to gently hug the bunion rather than constrict it in the way leather does. DB are v old lady chic though. Wink

Skechers!

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 03/05/2021 16:34

Skechers do different widths and lots of different styles.

WildRunner · 03/05/2021 16:39

Like @Fallstar, another vote for Mizuno Waveriders. I have bunions on both feet so take an E width fitting in walking boots. I've run in Waveriders for years with no problems.

Insertfunnyname · 03/05/2021 16:40

Men’s standard fit are a women’s wide

Twinkie01 · 03/05/2021 16:42

Under Armour trainers are quite wide.

Apileofballyhoo · 03/05/2021 16:46

You might like to have a look at barefoot shoes OP. They all come with a wide toe box. Often with a thin sole so you might prefer to size up and get padded insoles of some sort. Groundies Universe is a plain casual trainer in various colours. Merrell do barefoot trainers that look very like conventional ones, very roomy toe box and thicker sole if you get the right type, as different styles have different thickness. I think they have a white one with a natural rubber sole. I have a feeling I saw them on sportsshoesdirect. Rocket Dog jazzins are converse type with a fairly wide toe box and considered barefoot friendly. Fairly thin sole thigh I think they've added a padded insole recently.

ilovetomatoes · 03/05/2021 16:52

Another vote for Altra. I have Morton’s neuroma so need wide fit and these are so incredibly comfortable

RedMarauder · 03/05/2021 16:58

If you are looking at trainers then Brooks and New Balance cater for wide footed people. A few Adidas and Reebok trainers are wide fitting.

Also if you wear hiking/walking shoes rather than trainers then some hiking brands have wider fitting shoes.

If you are size 6 or over then you can try mens models but you need to learn different lacing techniques so the shoes are comfortable and stay on properly.

If you have limited time and they are for everyday walking around use then easiest is to just try Sketchers. (They did use to sell completely black trainers with hard to see logos.)

I use to have to wear inserts in some of my shoes particularly sports shoes or strap myself up, which is why I found out which brands sold wider fitting shoes.
