I'm having 2 wisdom teeth removed in an hour under sedation, and I've only now just realised I haven't got anything soft in to eat over the weekend, il be sending dh out to buy some stuff later, can you throw some food ideas at me? I also have coeliac disease so most soups are off the list. Thank you Wine

Oh no I've been using a straw! Was so much easier when I was numb and couldn't feel my lips and tongue. Il stop that right now then! They didn't tell me that, just told me nothing hot. Ive managed half a cheese sandwich and a few spoons of yogurt. I think that'll be me done for today. It's sore, and hard to open my mouth. But I'm glad it's done now, just can't wait for this swelling to go down, and actually have a hot cup of coffee Grin

Yes no straw or smoking (or anything that involves sucking) and no very hot drinks for 5 days. Warm only. You need to avoid dissolving or dislodging the blood clots as that is what causes dry socket and you do not want that, believe me. Its worse than childbirth, goes on for days and there's nothing they can do except keep packing it until it heals over.

After 24 hours, start rinsing 3 times a day with warm salt water.

I've chucked the straw, I'm very swollen, more than yesterday, and its really painful, I have fibromyalgia so I don't know if that is making it 10x worse. But I managed a buttery jacket potato! Took me half an hour with a tea spoonGrin but it was good.

I've just had one out (well, 2 weeks ago). Recovery was far worse than I imagined.

Tea spoons were best tool to use - they don't involve opening your mouth too wide! I ate very little for the first two days - yogurt and lukewarm drinks basically. Built up to cup-a-soups and those vile mug shots (pasta) and also there are some new rice shots - like pot noodles but with rice. And yogurt. Lots of yogurt. Oh - and custard - that made a nice change!!!! I also found that quavers worked ok after a few days - if you let them melt on your tongue. Monster Munch were far too crunchy.

Jamaican patties (Sainsburys sells them) are good too after a few days - if you microwave them the pastry is really soft (if you oven cook it, though, it's crispy). They can be sliced up really small and they don't have big bits of meat or veg in them. They're basically like puree in soft pastry.

I had a lot of lucozade etc. too.

If it makes you feel better I was told it's best not to have GA as they will be more gentle with the extraction (multiple people told me this - incl dentists!). I still felt like I'd done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson and I avoided a GA.

The headaches crippled me (literally) - finally eased off this week. But I couldn't take anti-inflammatories (due to bleeding disorder). I think if I could have taken NSAIDs the headaches would have eased more quickly.

Really hope you are feeling better soon.x

Sorry not sure how to get link to work properly. That should be a link to the patties - they do vegetable, chicken, beef, lamb etc.

I had to go back this morning and get it packed with a foul tasting thing, because it was hurting really bad, I had a really bad taste in my mouth and it smelt? but the thing they put in is starting to fall out already, does anyone know if this is normal?? Sorry, They didn't really tell me much cause they had to squeeze me in. Just that it's not infected, they flushed it through twice, and sent me on my way with a syringe to clean it at home. It appears that my hospital is shoddy when it comes to giving me useful information. Also going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and I'm going to try and get something stronger for the pain as paracetamol and ibuprofen just are not cutting it

Yes thats normal, they should have told you to see your dentist in a few days to have it cleaned and packed again.
