I'll start. A number of years ago I was on the London underground sitting on the tube going to Ealing. I was only 11 travelling with my older cousin.
A lady had a toddler and baby in the pushchair. She got the pushchair on while the toddler stood on the platform
as she turned around to get the child the door closed and moved off leaving the child on the platform alone.

Ugh this is my worst nightmare! Never let go of the child!!!

DinosApple · 28/04/2021 19:34

If that was me and my DC I'd pull the emergency cord!

I'd imagine though that someone clocked the solo toddler, held their hand and took them to the nearest train station staff. And the mother will still be having nightmares about it!

I would pull the emergency stop!

God that is your worst nightmare. I am sure that happens often.

I often wonder about people i have seen on Cant Pay? We'll take it Away who were evicted. There was one episode where a woman and her 3 children were evicted from her dads hse by her dads girlfriend, after he had died. She had lived with and cared for her dad there for 15 yrs in his home. The council were useless, said as she worked she should pay for a hotel for them all. She was a hard working single mum of 3! Had it not been for the bailiffs paying for a hotel for them for the night she and her children would have been on the streets that night. Seemed so unfair .

Her neighbour was an amazingly strong inspirational women too, helping her. I always think of that lady and remember her little daughter, coming home from sch to that. Hope she is settled in a new home now with her children . I also hope the money the dads girlfriend made from the sale of that house has brought her nothing but bad luck.

Oh my goodness, that would be my worst nightmare. As an older child/teen travelling with my mum on the London Underground she told me that if one of us got on the train and the other didn't, the one on the train should get off the train at the next stop and wait on the platform. The one not on the train to get on the next one to (hopefully!) meet the other one at the next stop. Thankfully we never had to try this system out (and it would only work so long as the trains were going to same destination/not taking a different line, but not really a problem in zone 1). Seems like a good system.

I have often wondered what has happened to some of the people on Can't Pay as well.
There was a woman who was an immigrant and had a young son and the council wouldn't help them. The bailiff was on the phone trying to talk to them and even he was shocked that they wouldn't help.
In the end they sent her off to a place miles away where it was impossible for her to get to work but she had no access to benefits and had no idea what she would live on.
I've thought about them a few times since and wonder what happened to them.

It's always heartbreaking when there's kids. Imagine coming home from school and you've lost your home and have to leave with a few things in bags.
