Do you think I was over-drugged giving birth?

I had pethidine which did nothing whatsoever. Then I was given my first epidural & as time went on, eight further top-ups. I also had vast quantities of Entonox. None of this touched my pain & I felt like I was being torn in half & at the point of dying. What it did do was make me badly hallucinate to the point I had no idea where I was, who I was or what was happening. In my first pictures I look like I have zombie eyes. I bit so hard my jaw hurt for 3 weeks after. Is this normal? There were no interventions like forceps etc.

Ooh yes a bit of gas and air after 9 months of sobriety. Marvellous. I felt chatty like I was in the nightclub loos at 1am telling the midwife I loved her hair and make up Grin

Didn’t work for long and I had a full epidural for the c section, I was exhausted and felt like I was floating on a cloud. In fact I struggled to stay awake for the actual birth and I look spaced out on the photos. But baby was fine and so was I.

Drugs are very tightly controlled op, I very much doubt they gave you too much. You can request a post birth review?

Probably not. You'd need any drugs you could take at that point.

My son recently had gas and air and hallucinated spiders, which stunned me because I did the same when on it when he was born. I just googled and found your post lol this is definitely one I can't explain lol

It's a shame women can't try the gas and Air before labour

I did - for the sweep. I was induced and had already had the pessary and every thing was really painful, the sweep was unbearable, so they offered gas & air. Just made me feel drunk.

Despite that I still used it so much in labour they had to tell me to stop as the baby wasn't getting enough oxygen. Had pethidine (pointless, just made me disoriented and confused and did nothing for the pain), and an epidural as well. After some time on the oxytocin drip there was no gap at all between contractions, it was just continuous.

Gas and air is such a great feeling. Like floating on a cloud. It can bring on hallucinations and often makes you barf after the birth.
I blacked out during my 1st labour , he was a big lad and struggling to get him out. When I came to I thought I was in bed at home and had been for hours. In reality I had only blacked out for seconds.
Very weird sensation

I had gas and air and pethidine for my DS and I was still in a lot of pain. Apparently I was swearing (I cannot remember this and I don't usually swear) but also really polite. Also, at one point I got up and went to go home. I think I was off my face.

It doesn't sound like you were over drugged. It sounds like they were trying to control the pain.
