Tube and pram help

Never taken the pram on the tube! Looking for an easy route to Acton Town from Blackhorse Road. I know Acton Town has a lift so that’s good but can’t remember if there are steps at BH Rd?

Go on to Citymapper and select the step free option. It’s telling me change at Green Park for Victoria line, then get off at Tottenham Hale and get the 123 bus three stops to BH Road.

You can use the travel planner on tfl and it tells you about accessibility - there are escalators at Blackhorse Road

Take a look at the step free tube guide- here.

Escalators are fine doesn't have to be lifts but was just trying to avoid lots of stairs. Thanks for the link to that map.

On the tfl app you can plan a journey and select 'step free'.

You need to think about changes as well as the start and finish stations.

Thanks, looking at that map it seems green park is fully accessible so should be able to switch from vic to Piccadilly line

Green Park does have lifts. Used to leave the station there before the pandemic and wfh.

tigerbreadandtea · 27/04/2021 07:13

Hmm so looking at that link to the accessible map Green Park doesn't appear, perhaps the interchange is awkward. The route it suggests is fine though.

Hi OP - I used to take the tube all the time with orange and a toddler. Just wanted to add if you do end up with some stairs I have to say I have always without fail had someone offer to help me carry. It might be a little different in covid but hopefully not! Just wanted to add as a don’t worry too much if you end up encountering stairs!

Ilovecrumpets · 27/04/2021 07:29

Pram not orange!

tigerbreadandtea · 27/04/2021 07:31

Thanks I feel nervous and not sure why!!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I live in C London and took the pram on the tube all the time. I found it to be no trouble on the escalators and never needed to to plan for step-free access. If there were steps, I’d ask for help. People were always kind. I totally understand that it feels like hard work with a pram but it really wasn’t.

tigerbreadandtea · 27/04/2021 07:35

Thanks I feel better now! I also haven't taken the tube myself since last year due to covid.

Not sure how old your little one is but we used the sling when we went to London combined with a v cheap but easily fold up able with one hand pushchair. So much easy to carry her attached to me and leaves hands free to carry pushchair and handbag/changing bag.

KindergartenKop · 27/04/2021 14:37

I always used to hold the baby and ask a random person to take the pushchair down the escalator.
