What to buy teenage boy

Have a DS who will be fifteen shortly. Thing is he has no clue what he wants for his birthday and I have no idea what to get him.

He has no contact witb his father or any of his paternal family so instead I spend a little bit extra on him usually a budget of £150ish

Any ideas greatly welcomed

What are his interests?

JoyOrbison · 26/04/2021 17:18

What about a absolutely top notch skateboard, even if he doesn't go skateboarding they are useful for teenagers to pose with, but get a really cool one Grin

scaredsadandstuck · 26/04/2021 17:20

Clothes? Cool trainers? You could have a shopping trip together now the shops are open? Mine would choose this, or something gaming related. I guess it depends on what he likes doing.

JoyOrbison · 26/04/2021 17:21

Gaming chair?

loobylou44 · 26/04/2021 17:23

Decent earphones? My dd is 15 in a couple of weeks and she's asked for some beats wireless sports earphones.

Spring2021 · 26/04/2021 17:25

Don’t go for the skateboard not all kids like them. Teenage boys and girls are so different. My DS17 at that age liked clothes but he also liked reading and XBOX and he’s still pretty similar now. He wouldn’t thank you for a skateboard. I am would ask him if anything he needs or wants.

Spring2021 · 26/04/2021 17:26

Earphones might be good.

teaandcustardcreamsx · 26/04/2021 17:26

Airpods if he didn’t already have them?

Hellocatshome · 26/04/2021 17:28

Just give him the money, all teenagers like money.

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/04/2021 17:28

Earphones, console games, driving experience (once they reopen), escape room book, cash

JoyOrbison · 26/04/2021 17:28

Into music?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 26/04/2021 17:30

My nephew is a similar age. His favourite gadgets are his waffle maker, toastie maker, soda stream and mini fridge! We bought him a subscription to How Stuff Works magazine for Christmas, and the board game Catan for his birthday in March.

ohisay · 26/04/2021 17:58

Does he like cars? How about a young driver experience? A lesson in a normal car or track experience in a sports car?

converseandjeans · 26/04/2021 18:03

TV for his room
Trainers
Nice hoody
Hamper of sweets

I would be tempted to spend about £50 and give £100 cash. I think a £50 note would go down well.

emmathedilemma · 26/04/2021 18:04

If he doesn't know what he wants or needs and you don't then it suggests you're just going to be spending money for the sake of it. Put it in his bank account for when he really wants or needs something.

clpsmum · 27/04/2021 11:31

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. He is so awkward to buy for as he is so laid back. He's a gamer that's his big interest. It has a gaming chair, headset, air buds etc. Wanted just a few nick backs for him to open rather than just give him money and nothing else. Some great ideas here thank you all c

What about Led lights to stick behind his TV.

Chatanooga1 · 27/04/2021 12:24

Gaming deals here

converseandjeans · 27/04/2021 23:54

What about a voucher for his Xbox or PS? So he can buy points?
Also LEDs are pretty cool.
Comfy/Oodie to wear while gaming?

safariboot · 28/04/2021 01:39

Gaming merchandise maybe? You'd have to know what games he's playing of course.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 28/04/2021 02:12

What is he in to? Other than gaming?
DS1 (16l "collects" rubiks cubes Confused
Over the last couple of years ive boughy him
YouTuber merch
A hoody/pjs/tshirts of games or TV shows he's into
Mini games arcade machine. It was from Flying Tiger and was about £6. The same thing in MenKind was about £25.
Oh and anything unicorn themed. Grin

DS2 will be getting mainly art and pokemon stuff when he turns 15. Unless I can find anything based on "becoming an author" as that's his dream.
