China and credit scoring

According to google

"China's social credit system, by its wide definition, is a set of databases and initiatives that monitor and assess the trustworthiness of individuals, companies and government entities. Each entry is given a social credit score, with reward for those who have a high rating and punishments for those with low scores.9 Aug 2020"

The Uk is potentially not very far away from that ourselves, are we?

I don't really understand the point of this post? Like what reward and punishment? If you mean those with a higher credit score get access to more credit on better terms then of course they do, they have a history of being responsible with money.

It’s a social credit score, not a financial one.

If they have a better social credit score (from things like donating blood, giving to charity etc.) they can do more, whereas negative things like jaywalking, crime, dropping litter brings it down.

A poor social credit score can stop you going to some universities and schools, you can be banned from cinemas and it’s posted online and on billboards.

It’s terrifying but the UK is nowhere near it.

We are nowhere near that. I could be as unpleasant as Cinderella's stepmother and still get into university.
