What’s your favourite musical instrument to listen to?

I always wonder if people experience instruments in the same way. For me - piano for story telling, violin for emotions. What’s your favourite?

my absolute favourite instrument in an orchestra is the contra bassoon.

but mainly because when it's part if a piece you are sure of a full sound.

the low strings are also goosebump inducing. the adagio for strings in mahler's ninth is heartmeltingly beautiful.

Acoustic guitar. I have a real dislike of the piano for some reason.

French horn for me. Love the rich tones.

The oboe. It breaks my heart.

The violin played well! My daughter plays and it's beautiful when she plays it well. Although I wouldn't have said this 5 years ago! Also love the harp.

Brass every time. Particularly a brass section in soul, funk, disco or ska music

I think it's the piano. There aren't many instruments i enjoy on their own, I prefer some kind of band backing or combining, but piano i can handle solo. Guitar is very emotional. Flute I don't really like at all.

Uillean pipes or Low whistle.

Piano by miles. It's so versatile. And then trumpet if it's played really well.

Wooden flute. Deeply soothing. Closely followed by cello for emotion, and drums for technical skill.

Pipe organ the only music that's ever made me cry.
