Has anyone gone back to a 'dumb' phone?

I don't like the term dumb phone, but it seems to be what they are called! As in not a smart phone.

I'm going for a sort of halfway house, which has WhatsApp and Google maps, but not a lot else and is very slow moving apparently, so not as fun / addictive as a smartphone.

It shouldn't be a big deal! It isn't a big deal really, but just wondered how other people have found it.

Alcatel pixi is a smartphone but it's slow and clunky, will take you a short while to adjust when you first start using it, which stops you wanting to spend all day in it but means it still does what you need it to. Strongly recommend that you don't sign into your Google account in it though, you can't sign out and it was somehow draining the battery and eating data even though the data was turned off, had to do a factory reset on it to get rid of Google account. Paid £15 for it new 7 years ago.

Nokia 225 4G Dual SIM is a dumb phone but you can get on the internet with it as well as everything else you need to do. Paid £45 for it recently and it came unlocked which was a bonus. Very basic though. You're not going to get internet addiction for sure. Took me a while to work out if I press the hash key I can scroll through the texting options for the one I prefer. Got a bit confused typing before I worked that out.

I feel rather extravagant paying £30 for mine now I've heard of all the £7 and £15 ones! It does have an FM Radio though and you can put mp3s on it if you have an SD card, which I'm sure I do somewhere. No maps or WhatsApp, but I'll keep this phone for the transitional phase and then it will just become a small tablet. Or I might get rid of it and get a tablet. My dad offered his old ipad to me and I said no recently, so I may ask him if he still has it.

I still use the landline. Smile

I've got two old Nokias as well as an iPhone. Twice I have needed to make a call and had no coverage on my iPhone but both the oldies have coverage. The battery charge lasts three weeks too.

I live in the back ass of nowhere though. I wouldn't take a journey without having all three phones with me.

Fair enough gelf. Do you have three different phone numbers?

pyewacket ha! That's very admirably old school. I unplugged my landline as I got so many nuisance calls on it. I'm actually pretty happy I might be changing number now as well, when I get my new sim as I get a few spam calls and texts on this one.

@SwayingInTime

What app to you use for restrictions? I want something with a password so I don’t just ignore the downtime.
