Budget friendly if possible but happy to pay if its something that would entertain this summer. We have a sand pit etc.
I was going to buy a swing ball set?

Also look on local selling pages. We got loads cheap last year. Then we worked out what got played with. And then renewed for decent this year. And filtered out what didn't get used.. Ie play house.

We have a double swing, slide, trampoline, swing ball basket ball. Hula hoops. Skipping tuff tray which we do hook a duck on.
Sand table. Water table.
Caterpillar rocker
Cube slide for the toddler.
Swimming pool.
Water slip n slide.
Splash pool thay you connect hose to which sprays.
Toy lawnmower that blows bubbles.
And various ride ons.

Lots were free or cheap last year and will do this year.
But this year we renewed for their birthdays trampoline. Pool, watter table and swing set.

Out door toys. Com is great

They will be 6 and 8 soon. They love kicking about a football. Making a den.
Also love old saucepans and broken garden gnomes for their 'cafe' Grin

Logs of different sizes and planks to make car ramps for toy vehicles.

Basketball has been popular here. We got quite a small one but I'm wondering about a bigger one.
We also got garden Jenga and giant Connect 4, ours are similar age and DS is a Connect 4 demon.

Serena1977 · 23/04/2021 22:28

Mine have :
Giant connect 4
Water bombs
Swing ball
Pool
Water pistols
Trampoline
Slide
Bowls
Cricket set
Basketball hoop
Plastic rackets and sponge balls
Hoola hoops
Skipping rope
Frisbee

EwwSprouts · 23/04/2021 22:29

Swing ball is great.
Also rebound nets start at about £20. They are great for football, catching, bowling fun.

SinkGirl · 23/04/2021 22:30

Following for ideas! The favourite here is a rotating see saw but yours may well be too big for it. Other than that we only have a double swing at the moment but don’t have much space!

bluechameleon · 23/04/2021 22:33

I have an area of my garden left with just earth and have a selection of large diggers and trucks plus trowels and forks for them to play with.

Woodlandbelle · 23/04/2021 22:33

I think I will go for the swing ball. Thinking of giant jenga as they would love that inside in the winter too.

Woodlandbelle · 23/04/2021 22:34

Thanks Blue. Thats a brilliant idea. Yes we have a section of the garden I could put earth and diggers. They would love that.

Swingball is too hard for that age group.

Earlybird00 · 23/04/2021 22:42

Mine love their swing ball, stilts and space hoppers. The best investment was the trampoline if you have the space. Space hoppers on trampolines look fun.

Woodlandbelle · 24/04/2021 10:23

They love using chalk on the concrete too. I forgot that. I must buy some this year.

If they like playing cafés, a mud kitchen would be great.

givememarmite · 24/04/2021 12:13

Mud kitchen is a favourite with my 5 & 8 year olds and we just got a roll of chalkboard film which you can cut to size and stick on walls for them draw on

EwwSprouts · 24/04/2021 17:02

Swingball is too hard for that age group. Bunkum. They can't whack it hard but they can play it gently or alone. Children's tennis lessons start from age 4 usually.

drspouse · 24/04/2021 22:23

Mine can hit the ball in swingball but it doesn't go round so they find it really frustrating.

FlyingPandas · 24/04/2021 22:29

Best budget purchase - a badminton net (about £40 as I recall). Hours of fun and there’s a limit to how much damage they can do with a shuttlecock Grin

Best £££££££ purchase - a Springfree trampoline. They can be on it for ages and even when DS1’s teen mates come over they still love the trampoline. Highly recommend.
