Contact lenses

Can I ask fellow contact lense wearers what they pay a month?? I currently pay £15 a month for monthly disposable ones but every time I have a contact lense checkup which last one was 2 years ago they mention me paying almost double to go over to daily ones. I've always refused as happy with the ones I wear but have a checkup soon and want to be prepared for how much I could be paying Smile

£12 a month for monthly topics with Asda opticians. I’ve happily worn the same lenses for years and many opticians no longer offer them and wanted me to change to more expensive monthlies.

I couldn’t justify the cost and don’t want to wear glasses so I just stick to my cheap monthlies.

Torics not topics Grin

Around a fiver a monthly pair from feel good contacts. Check up is £35 and six months of solution is a tenner.

£19 a month for one toric one plain monthlies (silicone hydrogel), includes 2 checkups a year.

£21 a month for 2 weekly ones from vision express. Happy to pay slightly more because I have a high prescription and I think they look after me

smithyca · 23/04/2021 22:52

£15 a month on direct debit with spec savers. If you factor in the free contact lens check, free eye test, 50% off glasses and the free delivery of the lenses it's not a bad deal.

Sprite999 · 23/04/2021 22:57

£32 a month for acuvue true eye daily disposable lenses (to wear 2/3 of the time). Includes checkups, as many as I want. I’ve had ulcers/blepharitis in the past so wanted to get the best option for that. I cut my own hair and don’t do other beauty treatments so it’s my one luxury!

3Britnee · 23/04/2021 23:05

~£25pm for freshlook or focus or something dailies.

From feelgood contacts, online.

Doorhandleghost · 23/04/2021 23:36

£23 for two weekly wear lenses, one of the more expensive ones which are what my eyes like. Includes my solutions and all checkups too. If I remove the solutions it’s about £19/m I think. I go to boots.

Personally I never found a daily that my eyes liked!

That's great 😃.. just gives me an idea before I go next week

£28 for daily disposables with vision express. Same price for the last 20 years.

Roominmyhouse · 01/05/2021 22:00

£24 a month for 20 pairs daily disposables with specsavers as I don’t wear them every day. It’s £34 for 30 pairs, includes all eye tests etc and 50% off glasses so I feel like it’s quite a good deal.

CandyCaneLane0 · 01/05/2021 22:10

£18 a month for monthly torics from Specsavers

idontlikealdi · 01/05/2021 22:17

I pay £28 for dailies from vision direct. Couldn't be arsed wi

idontlikealdi · 01/05/2021 22:17

With monthlies!

everythingcrossed · 01/05/2021 22:45

Can I ask, what are the monthlies like to wear? I have only tried the daily disposables and I find them very fiddly to get in and out plus I hate all the plastic waste they create with the capsules that they come in. I hardly ever use them - I hadn't heard of monthlies, are they quite hard? I am really scared of scratching my eye.

EventuallyDistracted · 01/05/2021 23:00

Monthlies are still soft, they do fold but not enough to stick together IYSWIM. I think dailies are floppier (I've never worn dailies). I get them out by pinching upper and lower lids together and pinging them out into my fingers. A lot of opticians will take the packaging back for recycling now.

3JsMa · 01/05/2021 23:03

I pay £13 for 3 months supply

thefemaleJoshLyman · 01/05/2021 23:03

£25 per month for dailies. I do find them more fiddly than the old monthly ones that I had. Boots do recycle the capsules but I'm rubbish at sorting them out. Think I'm going to reduce my contact - I currently have 6 months stored in my bathroom cabinet.

MiloAndEddie · 02/05/2021 00:41

Monthlies are a thicker lens than dailies but not hard. Definitely not as ‘floppy’ as dailies. I wear two weekly ones which I guess must be half way between the two!

everythingcrossed · 02/05/2021 12:17

Thanks milo and eventually - I'll explore.

TurquoiseDragon · 02/05/2021 12:25

I've only ever had monthlies, as my prescription is pretty costly for dailies, if made at all.

I've not had a problem with them at all.
