Who is right?

Daughter is doing a lot of adhoc babysitting. I have told her she needs to set up as sole trader and register with ofsted. She said she does not have to register with ofsted. Who is right?

Your daughter. It's babysitting for goodness sake, not a childminder. Long as she's DBS checked it's fine.

QueQueQue · 23/04/2021 17:20

Currently, there are no regulations or requirements that apply to those working as babysitters. They are not required to register with OFSTED, nor do they need to hold a current DBS check

Calm down, casual babysitting, she’s not opening a nursery!

LIZS · 23/04/2021 17:23

If it is in their home and on a casual basis she does not need to be registered.

LemonSherbetFancies · 23/04/2021 17:24

She does a lot of regular work for this family and earns very well from them. She will be signing up as a sole trader to declare this to the tax people but I am sure I read somewhere that if you do babysitting for various people you have to be ofsted registered.

Blimey op. Are you jealous of her earnings?

LemonSherbetFancies · 23/04/2021 17:26

I am worried she will get in trouble. Definitely not jealous. She's my daughter, why would I be? 🙄

In her 20's.
What does she do when she's not babysitting? University or does she have a job?
LemonSherbetFancies · 23/04/2021 17:35

Looking to do a masters degree and currently not employed in any other work.
