I need cheering up - tell me what you love about your life (or loved about it before covid).

My four kids and husband.

DarlingWithoutYou · 24/04/2021 17:22

@Ninkanink "I have a husband whom I absolutely adore and who adores me too. Of course there’s the odd sticking point here and there and we take turns finding each other utterly exasperating. But we agree on all the important things and are so well suited to each other in every way that I thank my lucky stars every day that we managed to find each other. He had several heart attacks last year and I’m very grateful that he’s still here. Every day we have together is a wonderful day."

I love this and it's how I feel about DW. Every day is a wonderful day is a lovely way to put it. Hope your DH has many healthy years ahead of him.

LadyCluck · 24/04/2021 17:26

What a nice thread! Smile

My children - two wonderful daughters. Both miracles.

My dog. Thinks she’s one of the humans. Makes me smile every day.

Where we live - beautiful village surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Bluntness100 · 24/04/2021 17:32

My daughter, first and foremost, she’s literally the love of my life and I’m so proud of her, I don’t know how she turned out so nice when I’m her mum.

My husband, 32 years together since I was 20. We just kinda muddle along. If that makes sense, and although there are moments, we tend to be on the same page in terms of our life, and we treat each other with respect.

Financially we are comfortable and I still struggle to get my head round that as I grew up poor.

My small family unit is a good one, we love each other, close, and get on well. Coming from an abusive home, that means something huge. To be able to create something different.

My friends, I have good friends and a good social life and it’s important to me.

My career, my husbands, it’s enabled our lifestyle.

My home and garden, it’s beautiful and we are lucky to live here.

Woodlandbelle · 24/04/2021 17:35

Dream home
10 year marriage
Decent career
Two sweet little kids
Recently have more 'me' time too so feel a good bit better than I used to.

Hoolihan · 24/04/2021 17:35

My kids, my family & friends, where I live by the sea, having enough money to have holidays/outings, self-belief!

ChaToilLeam · 24/04/2021 17:38

I love my DP and even over the difficult past year we’re still a good team.
I have a good and interesting job with great colleagues and can work from home.
We live on the outskirts of a major city and every day I can walk along a river, or in a forest, or out into farmland. We can easily get to half a dozen other countries by train.
We live in a small but nice apartment and have a great outside space for BBQs etc.
we have good relationships with friends and family.

Pantheon · 24/04/2021 17:39

My child, my husband, my friend's, the fact I have enough to eat and a nice place to live, travel, new experiences

My brain and mouth don’t engage and I say dumbass things A LOT.
I’m funny as in ha ha (and a bit odd)
I walked into a bush yesterday because I was too busy looking a bee

Trinacham · 24/04/2021 17:57

I have a husband, who I adore, and he adores me (11 year relationship), our cats, our home, both of us having a stable job, feeling excited that we still have much more to come (kids, we're hoping!)

Cindersrellie · 24/04/2021 18:02

I love threads like this Smile and really enjoyed reading these, thank you.

On reflection, the things I most love are people, not so much stuff. I love my child and husband, living with them is so much fun. My friends are great too! I love my job - it is challenging and interesting and I feel like I'm doing something useful with it. I also love our home and garden but I tend to make the best of physical surroundings and loved my tiny rented flat when I was broke as much as I love the comfortable house I own now. Love being able to look on the bright side of life and make the most of almost any situation.

Onlyherefortheconspiracies · 24/04/2021 19:11

All of it. Fab friends and mum and dad, brother and sister.
Own business which is booming.
Lovely flat with tiny mortgage
Amazing social life coming back.

Also single and child free by choice so free to do whatever I like.

I couldn't be happier.n

lastqueenofscotland · 24/04/2021 19:23

My utterly wonderful horse.
My DP is wonderful. Not quite as wonderful as the horse but not bad.
I’ve some lovely friends
I adore hiking and trial running and it’s really kept me sane in lockdown.

bubblebath62636 · 24/04/2021 19:35

2 beautiful dauguters
My lovely handsome dh
Not having to work
Our 2 dogs

bohemia88 · 24/04/2021 20:13

I've never had children of my own, but I'm incredibly lucky to have 'step grandchildren' who call me Nanny. Lots of other parts of my life are truly shit (no work during the pandemic) but I know I am truly blessed.

I'm also healthy.

At the moment I'm counting my blessings.

Equimum · 24/04/2021 20:20

My husband.
My children.
My safety.
Although I don’t have lots of friends, I have good friends who I enjoy being with, and who I know are there when I need them.
Having recovered from a serious illness and having my health.

DarlingWithoutYou · 24/04/2021 21:18

I LOVE this thread

Sarahlou63 · 24/04/2021 21:22

@Mammymar - Happy birthday! Cake

burblish · 25/04/2021 03:29

I grew up in an abusive home and was so deeply unhappy. I couldn’t imagine back then that I would ever have real happiness. And now? I have the stable, secure, incredibly happy home life (for me, DH and most of all our amazing children) I didn’t ever dare to dream of. My home is full of love and simple joy. I have rock solid friends and a rock solid marriage. I even like my job! I wish I could go back in time and tell that desperately unhappy girl how things were going to turn out. I feel so lucky every day.

MrsDThomas · 25/04/2021 08:01

Obviously the family! But where i live is amazing. 15 mins from the sea, 15 mins from work so easy commute. Mountains - Snowdon has become too busy since lockdown was lifted so i dont go up and stuck to the paths on mountains visitors cant be bothered with. Snowdon is what people come to walk up so they leave the equally beautiful mountains alone.

Very rural where i am. No mains gas, no mains sewage, no street lights, no shops, absolutely nothing for 3-4 miles. Bloody perfect!

BigGreen · 25/04/2021 08:07

I'm proud that DH and I have been through so much shit in the last few years and still managed to come through it. We can still have a laugh even though his illness has changed things a lot.

I live in a fabulous city, which has been a bit less interesting on lockdown is still brilliant.

Although my job isn't very stable it means I can learn continuously which is something I love and benefit from.

My two kids are funny and lovely!

Mammymar · 25/04/2021 13:09

@Sarahlou63,thank you

Frownette · 25/04/2021 13:14

Quite a lot is wrong, but quite a lot is right.

I adore my friends and my memories and hope to wipe out quite a lot of the negative in due course :)

Something no-one can take away from anyone is appreciation of architecture, poetry, literature, looking at the scenery.

Ninkanink · 25/04/2021 13:18

@DarlingWithoutYou thank you! Flowers and the same to you.

He’s better now and all being well there’s no reason why we won’t have many more years together. It’s a real shock when something like that happens to a reasonably fit, healthy and well 40-something year old!

Another thing that makes me very happy is that we have beautiful countryside right on our doorstep.

My plants make me happy.

Reading a favourite book, with a perfect cup of tea.

Good food and a bottle of wine.

My DH has recently taken up baking and he makes a fantastic ciabatta.
