Christening gift ideas please

I've just been asked to become godmother to a 1 year old. Christening will be in July (covid permitting). The parents aren't exactly religious (more doing it to appease grandparents).

Budget is around £100

Should I get premium bonds? A silver rattle that she'll never use? I don't know?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I still have a little silver christening spoon and fork I was given, it is very cute and useful. My DD had a silver piggy bank, she loved putting money in it and now her brother has it.

I do however think premium bonds is a much better idea!

I actually really like the idea of a silver piggy bank to go with the premium bonds. That way there's an actual gift she can see.

For both of my grandsons I got little wooden stools carved with their names and date of baptism.
Nice to sit on when toddlers and to stand on to "help" in the kitchen as well as being lovely keepsakes.

I bought both my nephew and niece a “grown up” present - one had a watch and the other a pendant with her birth stone (- sadly it was diamond.).

Would you consider a silver charm bracelet, adult sized, you could get her a charm for Brithdays/Christmas/Easter whenever whilst she is still small and her parents could store it safely until she is old enough to wear it. My godfather did this for me.

As a parent myself, I would say do not get a silver rattle, teaspoon, tooth holder, birth cert holder - dust collectors! Equally baby bangles, lovely but my DC would not tolerate them as babies and they won't fit anyone now.

Otherwise premium bonds are a great idea.

Premium bonds excellent idea or contribute to child ISA. When my adult children left home they did not want to take their silver money boxes, Mrs Tiggywinkle tea set and egg cup or silver tankard, knife, fork and spoon sets. They still sit in a box in my loft. My dd did take a nice silver photo frame though so maybe that.
