Would you offer?

I sold an item this week on gumtree, the lady asked if I could deliver as it was bulky and she was 30 miles away. I was free that day so I said yes. When I got there I had to help her take it up to her flat, it was so bare, really clean but bare. We were chatting and she said she'd lived there since September but hadn't managed to furnish it yet, every floor was bare and she didn't even have a coffee table, the TV was propped up on the fireplace, not even a rug.
I can't get her out of my head, she was so so lovely and I wish I could help her to make her flat more homely.
We have recently redecorated and I have a large rug and some cushions, canvasses for the walls, a mirror and even a coffee table I can spare. Would I offend her if I offered these things? For free of course. I would love to help her but definitely don't want to offend her.
Should I mind my own business or is there a way I can offer the things without her being offended?

I definitely would

brokengate · 22/04/2021 14:28

Yes I would. She can always say no.

BeautifulBirds · 22/04/2021 14:29

Just message her and say, I'm looking to rehome some bits. Would you like them. Feel free to say no.

Definitely offer, I can't think it would cause offence just to offer.

I have sent a message see if she wants them, thanks for the replies, I didn't want her to feel ashamed or anything.

I would. I can't see how it would offend her and if it did, she could just say no thanks. I've given away kids' clothes on Freecycle before, collected by lovely local lady with several kids. Next time I had some clothes to give away I messaged her directly. She was delighted and it made my life a lot easier knowing they'd be used and not having to deal with time wasters - win win.

Well aren’t you lovely (no sarky) Flowers

TheVolturi · 22/04/2021 17:08

She replied and said yes please! I'm really happy that I can help, hope it will make a difference for her.

That is really nice of you. We just don't know people's circumstances and whatever is happening in her life you have most likely made her year.
