Anyone who’s had shopping from amazon prime does this sound odd

I ordered for Morrison’s through amazon prime for first time last weekend. Dh took delivery, it came in a bmw who I know isn’t unusual as I’ve read before about them coming in taxis etc. However dh just mentioned that the driver asked to see his bank card and scanned it with a machine. This doesn’t sound right to me as I already paid online using my own credit card which is a different one to the one they scanned. This was Sunday and he’s only just mentioned, his bank account still has money in but I’ve sent him up cash point to get a mini statement to check he’s not been charged for anything (he doesn’t have online banking)

I've used this quite a few times recently and have never been asked to do this. If you get alcohol they do sometimes ask for photo ID.

Abouttimemum · 21/04/2021 15:54

We had our Morrison’s shopping delivered via Prime by a bloke in his car. It was fine. He didn’t ask to see a bank card though, just dropped the bags at the door.

Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 15:56

Thanks dh is going to cancel his card to be on safe side once he’s got mini statement

Phone the bank and shut the card down immediately.

It doesn’t sound right but why take any chances. They’ll send you a new card.

NerrSnerr · 21/04/2021 15:57

They leave our Amazon Morrison's stuff on the doorstep and just message when they've delivered.

TheQueef · 21/04/2021 15:59

Had several deliveries, I'D for one with alcohol and run opener but never asked for card.
If he was a taxi as well he would have a card reader so I would worry too.

Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 15:59

We had alcohol in it so I know they couldn’t just leave but dh is late 50s so I doubt they needed Id

Phone morrisons as well and tell them what happened as they will know who delivered the shopping and he may be using a skimmer on the side and selling bank details on the dark web or something. If they say he had no reason to scan your card phone the police.

Yawnthisway · 21/04/2021 16:01

When it’s ID they take details to prove to amazon they did the ID so him being obviously overage wouldn’t of mattered.

However obviously the bank card isn’t ID so I would cancel the card to be safe

foxyroxyyy · 21/04/2021 16:01

No they take ID but never your bank card! Dodgy

Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 16:04

He’s going to cancel the card when he gets back he just wanted to get a mini statement to check if anything had gone out before but will cancel card anyway

They always ask for ID for blades or booze, even from an old gimmer like me Grin

Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 16:09

Ok so it could be for Id? He did say they asked for and he gave them bank card and they scanned it. So there could be a logical explanation? He will cancel card anyway to be safe

They always ask for ID for alcohol.

The car isn't important, as it is just whatever the driver has - my local lass for Morrisons via Amazon has a Kia of some sort.

He's cancelling the card, but I suspect he's taking had to provide a photo up to Amazon - was it a credit card rather than a debit? That might be proof of age?

Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 16:09

They asked for id and he gave them bank card that should say

OP posts:
Morph2lcfc · 21/04/2021 16:11

It was a debit card he doesn’t have credit

skippythebushkangarootoo · 21/04/2021 16:12

I've showed them my driving license before and they retook a picture of that so hopefully it's just an ID proof thing- they need the number on the back etc to use it

skippythebushkangarootoo · 21/04/2021 16:12

Took*

Anurulz · 21/04/2021 16:18

I have had multiple deliveries, need to show ID for alcohol but never had husband's or my card scanned.. sounds dodgy.. I hope things are ok..

Lovingspring · 21/04/2021 16:22

They do need ID for alcohol no matter what your age, but not a bank card. Glad he has cancelled it OP.

Quartz2208 · 21/04/2021 16:24

If they asked for ID for alcohol that makes sense - it can be a legal requirement. If he gave his debit card over as a form of that ID that would also be fine.

If they specificially asked for a bank card that it not ok

Fink · 21/04/2021 16:28

As pp have said, if they asked for ID and he chose to show a card, that's perfectly normal. If they specifically asked for a credit/debit card, that's dodgy. They ID anyone who takes the delivery if there's age-restricted products in the order, no matter what age.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/04/2021 16:32

Amazon Prime online chat will help him here. If nothing else it will make them aware that the delivery person is doing something they shouldn't.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/04/2021 16:33

A debit card isn't proof that someone is over the age of 18.
