I'm just dusting off the album now... may have ants in my pants later Smile

I was desperate to see the Bat Out Of Hell musical, and persuaded a reluctant DD to come with me. She loved it even more than me, and went on to see it four more times, twice with me and twice on her own, even heading to London on one occasion! She sent me a text saying Jim had died, so sad.

@DioneTheDiabolist

I only discovered today that he also produced one of my favourite songs ever (don’t judge) - This Corrosion by Sisters of Mercy.

You have been judged and found worthy @DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat. This Corrosion is an excellent song.😎

You both have excellent taste - this song was my gateway to goth!

However, it's Total Eclipse of the Heart I'm listening to in tribute now 🤘

I was pretty angry with him for a while, because his bad boy man child lyrics seemed justify a certain type of guy my boyfriend.

Ive mellowed and stopped blaming him for my ex's bad attitude!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/04/2021 09:16

I woke up this morning after a night of dancing round the living room, I did have ants in my pants. And I keep hearing him say, in that very louche, over the top, silly manner

GOD DAMMIT DADDY You know I love you But you've got a hell of a lot to learn about RRRRRR OCK AND ROLL

Which most people who have ever hear it might attribute to MeatLoaf on Wasted Love and don't know that it was heard here first with the typically OTT title Love, Death and an American Guitar.

Steinman and Todd Lundgren together at their silliest. The great Ellen Foley backing. I may have an ear worm that lasts for days [smile

@alexdgr8

who is he.
If you can post on here, surely you can Google. 🙇🏻‍♀️

He wrote so many of my favourite songs.

I mourn the loss of Jim, but also decent music in general!

Now I know Ive reached my 'best before' date!!😂

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/04/2021 17:10

Ye gods! But could they choose something different? All sorts of Steinman songs to be played and yet we are all holding out for a hero! Damn you, Ooooh Gary Davies!

I'd play something else but I only have it on vinyl and I am working... my PC doesn't have sound and I can't get to the cable, need to wait for DH to come back from Scotland Grin

@VienneseWhirligig

I was really sad when I heard. His music is fabulous, I could listen to it all day. Original Sin and Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young are my favourite songs.
Tonight is what it means to be young is an absolute epic! I heard it once when I was in my teens and searched for it for years afterwards (pre-internet days).
CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/04/2021 17:35

Funny isn't it? You go for decades never hearing of anyone who has heard of him. Oh, they know Meatloaf and Bonnie, but not the writer! And now... we actually have people to share our sadness - and celebrate his mad genius Grin

'I've been called over the top. How silly. If you don't go over the top, you can't see what's on the other side.' RIP Jim Steinman

@Clawdy

I was lucky enough to see the musical twice. It has what is now one of my all time favourite songs - 'What Part of My Body Hurts the Most?'

I saw Meatloaf on the 3 Bats (least said about the third album the better) and Last at Bat tours. Even though his voice wasn't what it was, the songs just carried it.
